HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3299-1961RESOLUTION NO. 3299 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRAN- CISCO AUTHORIZING TH]E MAYOR TO FILE WITH THE UNITED STATES CON- FERENCE OF MAYORS A REQUEST THAT A COMMITTEE OF THAT ORGANIZATION BE APPOINTED TO COMPILE AND PRESENT DATA TO THE CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE STUDYING JET NOISE WHEREAS, uniform regulations are needed to relieve residents near airports of the nuisance caused by Jet aircraft passing over residential areas on take-off and landings, and WHEREAS, said uniform standards can best be determined through Joint ef- forts of the cities concerned, and WHEREAS, the standards once determined should be expressed in a federal regulation or uniform regulation of local governments. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the Mayor is hereby authorized to request that the United States Conference of Mayors undertake the formation of a committee for study and determina- tion of a reasonable decibel standard for expression in a federal regulation or uniform ordinance made available to local governments. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor also request that the committee un- dertake to present their findings, determinations and suggestions to the appropriate congressional committee for the purpose of effecting a reasonable federal regulation and should a federal regulation not be developed, then the reasonable decibel standard be expressed in a uniform ordinance made available for enactment by cities. I hereby certify that the foregoinE resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held this 2nd day of October, 1961, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Absent, " G.
