HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 3522-1962RESOLUTION NO. 3522 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING REPORT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO TO THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY REGIONAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD IN ACCORD- ANCE WITH SAID BOARD'S RESOLUTIONS NOS. 388 AND 407 BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the written pro~ress report entitled "REPORT TO REGIONAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD - SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DUMP" and attached hereto as Exhibit "A", which is required by the Regional Water Pollution Control Board, San Francisco Bay Re~ion, in accordance with their Resolutions Nos. 388 and 407, is hereby approved and ordered forwarded to said Re~onal Board. I hereby certify that the fore~oiny resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meetin~ held on the 6th day of August, 1962, by the followin~ vote: Ayes, Councilmen Noes, Absent, Leo J. RODONDI City Clerk EXHIBIT "A" REPORT TO REGIONAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD - SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO DUMP In compliance with Resolution #407 of the Regional Water Pollution Board the followin~ steps have been taken by the City of South San FranciSco, or the South San Francisco Scavenger Company, operators of the dump: (1) The area within the perimeter dikes has been~completely de-watered, all dumpin~ of organic material is bein~ done on dry land and out of contact with bay waters. (2) The perimeter dike has been faced with mud or dirt except at the northern tip of the east breakwater. Work of facin~ this small area with imported mud is under way at this time. (3) Garbage and organic material has been dredged from between the face of the dike and the restrainin~ fence. From time to time as the dra~line is workin~ in the area it will be utilized to remove any material that might accumulate between the fence and the face. 45 S RESOLUTION NO. 3522: (Continued) EXHIBIT "A" (Continued) (4) Monitorin~ pro~ram as outlined by the Pollution Board is bein~ performed. Reports are made regularly to the Board. (5) Test wells within the dump area have been drilled and samples are taken therefrom accordin~ to schedule. (6) Areas of the dike, where sulphides appeared to be formin~, have been du~ out by a large floatin~ dredge and replaced with a bay mud plu~ and the adjacent area faced with mud to a thickness of five feet or more.
