CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
NETWORK CORE SWITCHES AND RELATED EQUIPMENT
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $39,401.56; AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A
PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH STEPFORD, INC. OF SAN
CARLOS, CALIFORNIA FOR NETWORK SWITCHES AND
RELATED EQUIPMENT
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco (the "City ") is a municipal corporation
organized and existing under and pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of California;
and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2013, City staff issued a Request For Proposals ( "RFP ")
for network switches and related equipment, which included sending the RFP directly to all
companies that signed up to receive an "e- notify" on the City's website; and
WHEREAS, the City received three (3) proposals in response to the RFP; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council award a contract to Stepford Inc. of
San Carlos, California ( "Stepford ") for the purchase of network switches and related equipment,
in an amount not to exceed Thirty Nine Thousand Four Hundred One Dollars and Fifty Six Cents
($39,401.56); and
WHEREAS, adequate funding for the proposed purchase is included in the Information
Technology 2013 -2014 budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the Information Technology Department to
purchase network switches and related equipment in an amount not to exceed $39,401.56.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a
purchase agreement with Stepford for network switches and related equipment on behalf of the
City of South San Francisco, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12th day of
February, 2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
