CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE CONSTRUCTION
CONTRACT TO GECO, INC. OF NOVATO, CALIFORNIA
FOR THE CITY HALL ANNEX RENOVATION PROJECT IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $61,720; AMENDING THE
2013 -2014 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM TO
INCLUDE THE PROJECT AND APPROPRIATE A PROJECT
BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $80,320 FROM THE
GENERAL FUND RESERVES
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for
the City Hall Annex Renovation Project ( "Project ") and on February 11, 2014, received nine (9)
valid bids in response; and
WHEREAS, GECO, Inc. of Novato, California, was the lowest responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the construction contract to GECO, Inc.
( "GECO ") of Novato, California in an amount not to exceed $61,720; and
WHEREAS, the 2013 -2014 City of South San Francisco Capital Improvement Program
will be amended to include the Project and appropriate a Project budget in the amount of
$80,320, to include the construction contract amount and $12,400 in contingency funds and
$6,200 for construction and engineering management; and
WHEREAS, the Project will be funded by General Fund Reserves.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby awards the construction contract for the City Hall Annex
Renovation Project to GECO, Inc. of Novato, California in an amount not to exceed $61,720
conditioned on GECO's timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all required
documents, including but not limited to, certificates of insurance and endorsements, in
accordance with the Project documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco
authorizes the Finance Department to establish the Project Budget consistent with the
information contained in the staff report.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby amends the 2013 -2014
Capital Improvement Program to include the City Hall Annex Renovation Project and
appropriate a Project budget in the amount of $80,320, to include the construction contract
amount and $12,400 in contingency funds and $6,200 for construction and engineering
management.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City upon timely submission by GECO's signed contract and all
other documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 26th day of
February, 2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
NOES:
Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Mayor Karel Matsumoto
