CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AMENDING A MAINTENANCE
CONTRACT AWARDED TO GONZALEZ CONSTRUCTION
AND GENERAL CONTRACTOR, INC, OF SOUTH SAN
FRANCISCO, CA, FOR $31,519, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $35,651, FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
OF CITY -OWNED HOUSING UNITS.
WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff issued a request for proposals for
the Repair of City Owned Housing Units on November 5, 2013, and did not received receive any
bids in response; and
WHEREAS, City staff entered into negotiations with Gonzalez Construction and General
Contractor, Inc., ( "Gonzalez ") of South San Francisco, California; and
WHEREAS, staff recommended awarding a construction contract to Gonzalez
Construction and General Contractor, Inc., ( "Gonzalez ") of South San Francisco, California, in
an amount not to exceed $35,519; and
WHEREAS, City Council approved the construction contract to Gonzalez Construction
and General Contractor, Inc., ( "Gonzalez ") of South San Francisco, California, in an amount not
to exceed $31,519 which accounted for removal of the proposed work at the laundry room and
which included $1,643.70 in contingency; and
WHEREAS, Gonzalez Construction and General Contractor, Inc., ( "Gonzalez ") of South
San Francisco, California, found and repaired dry -rot damage in two separate locations and
issued an invoice to the City for an amount of $3,396.33 which was not part of their original
contract; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends amending the award amount for an additional $2,379 for
additional work at 314 Miller Avenue due to the tenants moving out of the unit; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends amending this construction contract to Gonzalez
Construction and General Contractor, Inc., ( "Gonzalez ") of South San Francisco, California, in
an amount not to exceed $35,651; and
WHEREAS, the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's 2013 -2014 ECD
Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby amends a construction contract for the Repair of City
Owned Housing Units to Gonzalez Construction and General Contractor, Inc., of South San
Francisco, California, for $31,519, in an amount not to exceed $35,651, conditioned on

Gonzalez's timely execution and submission of the contract and all required documents,
including but not limited to, certificates of insurance and endorsements.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents on behalf of the City upon timely submission by Gonzalez's signed contract
amendment and all other documents, subject to approval by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12th day of
March, 2014 by the following vote:
