CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $400,000
IN MEASURE A FUNDING FROM THE COUNTY OF SAN
MATEO FOR A GRAND AVENUE LIBRARY REMODEL
PROJECT AND COMMITTING LOCAL MATCH FUNDING.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") Library Department has been awarded
$400,000 in Measure A funds by the County of San Mateo to support a Grand Avenue Library
remodel project; and
WHEREAS, Measure A is a half -cent sales tax approved by San Mateo County voters in
November 2012 to support a broad range of County services and functions; and
WHEREAS, a local match of $1 for every $3 in Measure A funds, or $133,000, is required to
receive the full $400,000; and
WHEREAS, initial estimates indicate the total project cost to be approximately $700,000;
and
WHEREAS, full local funding in the amount of $300,000 will be requested through the mid-
year budget amendment process; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of Measure A funding in the amount of
$400,000 from the County of San Mateo and the formal commitment of $133,000 in local funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $400,000 in Measure A funds by the County of San
Mateo to support a Grand Avenue Library remodel project and formally commits to $133,000 in
local funding.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 12ffi day of March,
2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N Addiego Pradeep Gupta and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Richard A Garbarino and Ma oar KaDLI Matsumoto
