HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 49-2014RESOLUTION NO. 49-2014 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION TO SOUTHLAND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT, INC. OF PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA FOR THE RETAIL SPACE TENANT IMPROVEMENTS AT 636 EL CAMINO REAL (PROJECT) IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $449,909; REJECTING ALL BID PROTESTS, AMENDING THE 2013- 2014 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP) TO INCLUDE THE PROJECT; AND APPROPRIATING A PROJECT BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 FROM CTIY HOUSING FUNDS WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco ( "City ") staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids for the Retail Space Tenant Improvements at 636 El Camino Real ( "Project ") and on Ail 12, 2014, received four (4) bids in response; and WHEREAS, Southland Construction Management, Inc. of Pleasanton, California was the lowest responsible bidder; and WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the construction contract to Southland Construction Management, Inc. of Pleasanton, California, in an amount not to exceed $449,909, and rejecting the bid protest from B Side Construction; and WHEREAS, City of South San Francisco's 2013 -2014 Capital Improvement Program ( "CIP ") will be amended to include the Project; and WHEREAS, the Project will be funded by City Housing Funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby awards the construction contract for the Retail Space Tenant Improvements at 636 El Camino Real Project to Southland Construction Management, Inc. of Pleasanton, California, in an amount not to exceed $449,909 conditioned on Southland Construction Management, Inc.'s timely execution of the Project contract and submission of all required documents, including but not limited to, certificates of insurance and endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby rejects all bid protests. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco authorizes the Finance Department to establish the Project Budget consistent with the information contained in the staff report. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby amends the 2013 -2014 Capital Improvement Program to include the Retail Space Tenant Improvements at 636 El Camino Real Project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the documents on behalf of the City upon timely submission by Southland Construction Management, Inc.'s signed contract and all other documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a City Council meeting held on the 23rd day of April 2014 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N.
