HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 85-2014RESOLUTION NO. 85 -2014 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $15,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM KAISER FOUNDATION HOSPITALS ( "KFH "), NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY BENEFIT PROGRAMS DIVISION TO SUPPORT PROJECT READ' S HEALTH LITERACY PROGRAMMING AND AMENDING THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT'S 2014 -2015 OPERATING BUDGET WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") Library Department established Project Read and the Community Learning Center to assist adults and their families in reaching their literacy and educational goals; and WHEREAS, the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Northern California Community Benefit Programs Division has awarded $15,000 in grant funding to support Project Read's Health Literacy programming at the Community Learning Center; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of $15,000 to support Project Read Health Literacy programming; and WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds does not commit the City to commit to ongoing funding; and WHEREAS, the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend the Library Department's 2014- 2015 Operating Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $15,000 in grant funding from the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Northern California Community Benefit Programs Division and amends the Library Department's 2014 -2015 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of $15,000. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23rd day of July, 2014 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N.
