HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 86-2014RESOLUTION NO. 86 -2014 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF $25,500 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE LIBRARY TO SUPPORT THE WE LOVE READING PROJECT AT THE COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER AND AMENDING THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT'S 2014 -2015 OPERATING BUDGET WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ( "City ") Library Department established the Community Learning Center to assist adults and their families in reaching educational goals; and WHEREAS, the Library Department has been awarded federal Library Services and Technology Act funding, administered by the California State Library, in the amount of $25,500 to support a reading enrichment program, We Love Reading, at the Community Learning Center; and WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of $25,500 to support Community Learning Center programming; and WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds does not commit the City to commit to ongoing funding; and WHEREAS, the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend the Library Department's 2014- 2015 Operating Budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $25,500 in grant funding from the California State Library and amends the Library Department's 2014 -2015 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of $25,500. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23`d day of July, 2014 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Mark N.
