CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF
$25,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FROM KAISER FOUNDATION
HOSPITALS, NORTHERN CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY
BENEFIT PROGRAMS DIVISION TO SUPPORT THE
PARENT EDUCATION AND CHILDREN'S HEALTH
PROGRAM IN THE CHILDCARE DIVISION AND
AMENDING THE PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT 2014 -15 OPERATING BUDGET
WHEREAS, the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Northern California Community Benefit
Programs Division's PEACH Program is an initiative to support efforts in providing physical
education programs for children and education workshops for parents; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation was awarded $25,000 in grant
funds to support children's health and physical fitness in three After School Recreation
Programs; and
WHEREAS, $25,000 in grant funding will be utilized to amend the Department's
2014/15 operating budget to fund an increase physical education program components in the Los
Cerritos and Martin REAL Programs and the Spruce After School Program; and
WHEREAS, acceptance of these funds does not commit the City to ongoing funding after
the close of the grant cycle; and
WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds will enable the Parks and Recreation
Department to implement programs and services which are not otherwise funded, and support the
health of children in our After School Recreation Programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby authorizes the acceptance of $25,000 in grant funding
from the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, Northern California Community Benefit Programs
Division to support children's health and amending the Parks and Recreation Department
2014/15 operating budget.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the
documents necessary to effectuate the intent of this resolution on behalf of the City Council.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23r day of
July, 2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Mayor Karyl Matsumoto
