CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CONFERENCE CENTER TO SHARE
IN THE COST OF CONSULTANT SERVICES ANALYZING
EXPANSION OF THE CONFERENCE CENTER AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN THE
AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the South San Francisco Conference Center is considering expanding its facility
to attract more conference related business to South San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, the Conference Center plans to hire a consultant to determine if an expansion of
the facility would be justified in the current market and to estimate the cost of the expansion; and
WHEREAS, city staff proposes that the cost of the consultant be split evenly between the
City and the Conference Center; and
WHEREAS, the City has an interest in the increasing volume of conference business received
by the Conference Center which will lead to the support and growth of the City's businesses and City
revenue; and
WHEREAS, the anticipated cost for the consultant's contract will be for an amount not to
exceed $100,000, and the City's share will not exceed $50,000; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City
of South San Francisco, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 23rd day of July,
2014 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Pradeep Gupta,
Vice Mayor Richard A. Garbarino and Ma or KWI Matsumoto
NOES: Councilmembers Mark N. Addiego and Liza Normandy
