HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1914-07-30 Regular Adjourned Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San ?rancisco,held Thursday, July, 30 th. 1914. This meeting was called to order at 8' 0 Clock P.H.,by Trustee G.W. Holston 'President of the Board". Roll call Roll-call found the following Trustees present to wit; ~.A.Cunningham,J.C. ~Ic Govern, Geo. Tallace and G.W. Holston. Absent Trustee J.H. Kelley. The reading of the minutes of the previpus meeting were dispensed with. The rwading of the bids for improving San Bruno Road, Baden Avenue and Linden Avenue was taken up at this time. ~5oved by Trustee ~5c Govern seconded by Trustee Cunningham that the bids be opened. Carried The follwing bids were then opened Clark and Henery Gradeing 75 cents per Cubic Yard Concrete in base ll cents per square foot,Asphaltic p~veing surface 8 cents per square foot concrete sidewalk 14 cents per square foot,cUrbing 60 cents per ~ma~ lineal foot. ~.R. Rttchie Gradeing 70 cents per cubic yard, Concrete in base l0 cents per square foot Asphaltic surface 6~ cents per ~quare foot,sidewalk l~cents per square foot, curbing ~0 cents per lineal foot. Blanchard Brown Co. GradeiSg 6~ cents per cubic yard, concrete %n base l0 cents per squa~:e foot, asphalt 06 cent's per square foot, sidewalk 14 cents per square foot Curbing 40 cents per square foot. The following resolution was then introduced by T~'ustee Cunningham. ~esolution of Av:ard L~o. I1 '~?hereas,the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Franciscodid,in open session on the 30 th. day o~ July,1914,publicly open ,examinee and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doin~ the following work in s~id City ,to wit; That that portion of San Bru~uo Road between the northerly line of Grand Avenue and the Souyherly line of Armour Avenue be improved by gradeing from the westerly ~mmdary line to a line parallel thereto and at a distance of twenty-three feet easterly therefrom; also by grading between the easterly curb line and a line parallel to said easterly curb line and a t a distance of eleven ~ll) feet westerly therefrom;also by constructing concrete sidewalks and concrete curbs on the westerly side of said San B~G_uo Road,except where such sidewalks and curbs have already been constructed ,and by filling in earth between curb and concrete sidewalk to official grade; also by constructing an asphaltic concrete payment consisting of an asphaltic concrete surface one and one half inches in thickness Z~.id on a concrete foundation five inches in thickness in that portion of San Bruno Y~oad hereinbefore described and included~ between the easterly curb line and a line parallel thereto and at a distance ~f eleven ll feet westerly therefrom;that,that portion of Baden Avenue between the westerly line of San Bruno Road and the easterly line of Linden Avenue incl~ding all street intersedtions ,but excepting and excluding therefrom a certain rect- angular strip twenty ~20) feet in width lying ten (IO) feet on each side of the median line of Baden Avenue and extending from the westerly line of San Bruno Road to the easter- ly line of Linden Avenue,be improved by grading and by constructing therein an asphaltic concrete pavement in the manner hereinbefore described; That ,that' portion of Linden Avenue between the north line of Baden Avenue and the north line of Railroad ~venu~ ,including all intersections of streets snd alleys ,but ex- cepting and excluging a certain rectangular strip twenty (£0) feet in width lying ten (I0) F The rwading of the bids for improving San Bruno Road, Baden Avenue and Linden Avenue was taken up at this time. The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee Cunningham. ~esolution of Award ~ ~hereas,the Board of Trustees of the City of South San ~ranciscodid.in open session on the Z0 th. day o? All work herein provided for shall be done to official grade and in accordance with the special plans and specifications heret&fore ?adopted by said Board of Trustees vo for doing said work and nee on file in t~a office of the City Clerk to which reference is hereby made for further description of said work . The Board of Trustees under the authority conferred upon it by the provisions o~ that certain act of the Legislature of the S ate of California ,approved April,?th. 1911 and known as the "Improvment Act of 1911", determines and declares that serial bonds shall be issued to represent the cost of said proposed improvments; said bonds shall be serial extending over a perio~ of four(41 years from the second day of January next suceeding their date, and shall be issued to represent assessments of twenty-five (~5) dollars or more remaining unpaid thirty(30) days after the date of the warrant imsued to the cont~actor or, five (5) days ~~~ after the decision ovf said Board of Trustees on an appeal an aven annual proportion of the principal sum of each bond shall be payable by coupon on the second day of January of each year after its date and until the whole is paid,and intre~ ~hall be payable semiannually by coupon on the second days of January and July,~spectively of each year at the rate of seven (?) per cent per annum on all sums unpaid until the whole of said principal and intrest is paid and said bonds shall be issued in accordance with the provisions of said "Improvment Act of 1911". Resolved that said Board ~f Trustees hereby rejects all og said proposals or bids except that next herein mentioned,and hereby awards the concract for doing said work and improvment to the lo~est responsible bidder,to wit; Blanchard Brown Company a Corporation at the prices named in its bid: Grading sixty -five ~6B) cents per cubic yard; concrete in base Ten (I©l Cents per square foot; asphaltic co'~rete pavement six (6) cents per square foot; concrete sidewalks fourte~,u (14) cents per square foot concrete curbimg forty (40) oents per lineal foot . The City Clerk is hereby directed to post notice of tis award conspicously for five (5) days on or near the chamber door of this Board ,and also to publish said notice by one (1) insertion in "the Enterprise" a weekly newspaper published and circu- lated in said City,and hereby designated for that purpose by said Board ofTrm stees. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduceed and adoptei by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San ~rancisco this 30 th. day of July,1914, by_~t the following vote; ~ Ayes, Trustees ~.A. Negro to keep City Hall clean, Carried Moved by Trustee Cunningham seconded by ~rustee Wallace that the Board adjourn until ~ionday August,3rd. 1914,to meet at ~ZI0 Linden /Avenue at 8 ' 0 Clock P.~,I.
