This meeting was called to prder at 8' 0 clock p.m. ,by Trustee i~.A. Cunningham ~HE "President of the Board ~ Holston being absent. Roll-aall Roll call found the following Trustees present,to wit; I~.A. CunnLngl~am, J.H. Kelley, J.C ~c Govern and Geo Wallace. The minutos of the pre~ious meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Kelley seconded by Trustee Wallace and regularly carried were approved as read. The reports of City officers for the month of. July werethen read the report of the City Clerk showed the following balances. ~eneral fund $3,175.21 Sewer ftmd 14,726, 96 Sinking fund 966.94 The reports of the ~.larshal and Treasurer checked with that of the Clerk, the report of the 3ity Recorder showed that the sum of $£0. had been collected in fines through his office for the month of July 1914. }~ioved by Trustee Kell,y secondee by Trustee Wallace that the reports of all City officers be accepted as read. Carried A communication was receivee from E.C Peck inquireing when he could connect with the City sewer system. The City Clerk was instructed to imform E,C. Peck he might connect about September l, 1914. The Ci~ Clerk then presented to the Board of Trustees his affidavit making oath that he had posted notices headed "Notice of Local Improvment in the manner and form p provided in that certain resolution designated "Resolutio Adopting Report",passed by ~d Board 'f Trustees on thc £gth day of June ,1914 , and in that certain act of the Legislature of the ° ~ , ~:~ta~e of California known as the "Local Imprmvment Act of 1901"provided and that he completed said posting on the 13th day of July ,1914; also the affidavit of E.$. Woodman making oath thatsaid "Notice of Local Improvment" was published by two successive insertiens in "The Enterprise ", weekly newspaper printed,published and circulated in said City of South San Prancisco,to wit; on thellth day of July ,1914, and on the 18th day of July,1914. Carried · The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee ~.~c Govern, Whereas. it appears to the satisfactioh of the ~oard of Trustees~of the CCity of South San Prancisco from the affidavit of William J. Smith,City Clerk, on file that notices of the h~sx- ing provided for in that certain resolution entitled "Resolution Adopting Report",pa.(.~sed ~dopted by said Board of Trustees on the £9~,h day of June ,1914,containing the matters specified in said resoluti~n,t{ave been posted conspicously in three of t~e ,umost public places within the City of South S~n Prancisco,and also along the street frontages of all the property within the district in said resolution described ,and ~xot more than one hund~®~ 'feet J.n distance apart, and said notices were posted at I east tv,'enty days before the time set for hearing; and further " .":~ereas it appears from the affidavit of E.LI Woodman,on file tha~ said notice was published twice in "the Enterprise" a weekly newspaper ,printed ,published and circula~s~ in said City of South San Francisco and designated for the purpose by said resolution ,a~; ~HE "President of the Board ~ Holston being absent. Smith City clerk The following resolution was then introduced by Trustee Whereas the Carn~ ge ~IO,O00) dollars to the City of public libary in said City; and Whereas the said Carneige Corporation requires the proposed plans of construct- ion to be submitted and approved by waid corporation as one of the conditions precedent to the to th~' giving of said sum of money;and ~ereas it ~ necessary to appoint a designing and supervising architect to s~pe~n~ to prepare such plans and s~,~~he construction t~~ of~such libary building; and Whereas ~.H. Weeks is a capable,proper and satisfactory architect and is qual- ified to supervise the design and construeti n of said proposed libary building and to present an estimate of the cost th~reof; Resolved by the Board Sf Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the s~id said W.H. Weeks be,and he ~ereby is employed to prepare estimates of the costs,plans and speci- fications and suvh other preliminary ~ and necessary data as may be required for the approval cT said Carneigie Corporation and for the construction of such liba~y building Kelley Corporation has offered to donate the sum of Ten Thousand (IO?O0 South San ~'ranciscoto be used for the construction of a fr~e Be it further resolved th~,t sa~id W.H. Weeks be paid for such services a compensation of six per cent upon such sum of money as shall be expended in the construction of such libary building; Said compensation shall be payable at the time of completion of such libary building : Provided further,that in the event that said City of South San ~rancisxo shall fail to receive the said sum of Ten Thousand Dollars$1IO, 000) and shall fail to enter upon the construction of such libary building, the said W.H. Weeks shall be Paid nothing whatever for any servi~es which have been heretofore rendered by him or may be ren- in behalf of obtaining said donation and the c~nstruction of such libary dered hereafter building .
