HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1918-06-03 tlTF,I Regular adjourn meeting of the Bosrd of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco held Monday June 3, 1915. This meeting was eal!ed to order at 8 o'clock p.m. by Trustee G. W. Holston President of ~he Board. Roll call found the following Trustees present to wit: A. j. Eschelbach, M. F. Healy, J. H. Kelley, G. W. Holston, ~ Trustee Cunningham appeared after roll eall. The minutes of the previous meeting were re~d End upon motion of Trustee Kelley sec- onded by Trustee Healy and regularly carried were approved as read. Applications ~ 223R-224R-22?R of the Pacific Gas & Electrio Company were, upon motion of Trustee Healy seconded by Trustee Kelley and regularly oarried, granted. An application to conduct a pool room was received from I. Kavatey which applieation upon motion of ~rustee Kelley seconded by Trustee Eschelbach and regular~i, carried was ~enied. The application of Andy Isso~lio to eondu~t a ppol-room at 322 Grand Ave, which app- lication had been laid over from the previous meeting was taken up at this time. Moved by Trustee Cunningh~m seconded by Trustee Kelley that the application of ~ndy Issoglio to conduct a pool-room at 322 Grand Avenue be granted Motion Carried. A petition was received fro~ M. A. Greely petitioning the Board for 'an extension of 30 days time on his contract for the improvment of Butler & San Bruno Road was receive~ at this meeting. Upon motion of Trustee Healy seconded by Trustee Cunningham s~d regular- ~y carried the extension was granted. A communication was received from Foster Kleiser Company in response to one of the City Clerk requesting tSat a slogan be painted on their sign Boards in Sou~h ~an ~rancisco "F00~ WILL WIN THE NAR". The comnunication stated that the request of the Board of Trustees would be granted. Moved by Trustee Cunningha~ seconded by Trustee Healy and regularly Carried that an in- vitation be extended to the San Francisco Reality ~oard, to visit the City of South San Fran- ciseo in the near future. A ¢ommuni~ation was received from the Federal Reserve Bank of San~rancisco asking that all public improvments be postphoned until after the war. The chairman appointed Trustees Cunningham and Eschelbsch to interview Mr. John Perran the Federal Reserve Agent in regard to ascertaining the amount of money ~outh San Francisco could expend for public improvments for sewers and fire olarm system. A communication was received from W. R. Emerick Chief of the Fire Dep~rtment, resigin- lng his position. Moved by Trustee Healy seconded by Trustee Cunningham that the resignat- ion be accepted. Motion Carried. Moved by Trustee Kelley seconded by Trustee Cunn~ngham that the City Clerk address a communication to A. Ahern, concerning the condition of the railroad crossings in South San Francisco and asking that they be repaired. Motion Carried The reports of City Officers were received at this meeting The report of the City Clerk showed the following balances. Gener al ~nd · ibrary ~und Sinking Fund City Hall Fund Weed ~h~nd 2,377.78 15 31.18 3,463.87~ 3,875.18 190.8~, The report of the City Recorder showed that the sum of'~ourteen ($14.00) Dollars had been eolleeted through his office during the month of May, for which he enclosed check. The report of the City Health Officer wss also received, showing that he had attanded 31 children at the sehoo~ and performed 40 operations, during the month of May. 202 Moved by Trustee Healy seconded by Trustee Esehelbach and regularly carried that the reports of all City Officers received at this meeting be accepted and filed. Moved by Trustee Cunningham seconded by Trustee Kelley, that W. E. Truax be appointed Chief of ~ire Department. Motion Carried. Moved by Trustee Cunningham seconded by Trustee Heal? that R. E. Walker be appointed to drive fire truck at a salary of $25 per month, and that C. C. Conrad be appointed as an emergenoy driver at a salary of $10 a month. Moved by Trustee Esehelbaeh and seconded by Trustee KeUley that a telephone be installed in the home of the truck driver at lll Linden Avenue. Motion Carried. Moved by Trustee Cunningham seconded by ~rustee Kelley that thenapplications of the Dixon Express Co, the Inter-County Express Co., and the Bay Shore Delivery Co, which applications had been set for hearing June 3, 1918, bepostDhoned until a hearing was had before the Railroad Com- mission. Moved by Trustee Eelley seconded by ~rustee Eschelbaeh that the Board adjourn until Mondya June l?th 1918 to meet at 310 Linden Ave., at 8 O'clock p.m. Motion Carried.
