This meeting was called to order at 8' o clock p.m.,b?Trustee G.W. Holston "President of the Bm rd. Roll-call ~o!1¢~11 found the fo?~owing Trustees present,to wit; F.A. Cunningham,J.H. Kelley,and G.W, Holston. Absent Trustees Esehelbach and Heals. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and u~on motion of Trustee Kelley~-cSe:'eomded by Trus- tees Cunningham and regularly carried were approved as read. A petition of the Pi, e.r G~ S &Electrie Co. to lay a pipe line according to blue print filed with the pi was referred to the City Engineer for action. A oetition was also received from the P~c. Gas &Eleetrie Co. to set poles as per blue prints248 R 249 R attaehed to petitions whiehpetitions were granted. ~. petition for a elass"A" liquor license was received from Frank Fus¢o of 202 C,7press t. venue which was upon roll-call granted for the balance of the term ending December 31,1918.,u~on the expres~ eondition that no liquor would be served except with meals. The following resolution was introdueed by Trustee Kelley. WHEREAS,at the general election to be held throughout the State of California ,on November 5th.,1918 ~ssembly Constitutional Amendment No. 2. will appear upon the ballot as l0 in number and under the title of "Borough System Permanency "; and WHEREAS : It is of vital import~ce to the people of this $~l~n~tsf $~%Ul~/tteo that said Amendment shall be adopted: and hereas in the e,~%~U%hat the C_unty of San Mateo shall ever be annexed to the City and County of Sen Francisco,the people of Sen Mateo Count~ will be helplessl.~? under the domination of the voters of S&n Francisco,unless the Constitut~onel Amendment above mentioned becomes s portio~ ef~.~the organ l~w of ~he State of California : ~nd WH~i~REAS THE purpose of said amendment is to guarantee that once a borough system of Government is given to this or any other County¥it cannot afterwards be changed either Governmentally or ter~ttoril without the consent of a majority of the voters of such borough,therb2 legally assuring the autonomy of the borough : WHEREJ~S,efforts have been made,and'likel}~ will be ag&in attempted to annex the Count's/ of Sun to the Cit.¥ and County of S~n Francisco: and WH!~REAS WE BELIEVE thst it is imperative that s~feg~-~urds shall be created by adopting the co~'~stituti al Amendment.hereinbefore mentioned: and WHEREAS,in .the~ event th~ t said Constitutional Amendment is adopted,and subsequently our Count~? shou be annexed to San Francisco,we would be protected to the extent that we would have and enjoy self government : NOW THERefORE BE IT RESOLVED: That we the .Board of Trustees of the City oX South San Francisco do hereby express our a of said Constitutional ;_mendment No 2 (No. l0 on ballot,entitled "Burrot{gh System ?ermancy") and do hereby request the voters of the State of C~li~ornia ,and the voters of the County of S~.n ~,~ateo particularly,to vote for, and in favor of the a~option of said Constitutional Ar~endment at the General Election to be held throughout the State of California on Nov. 5th. 1918.. RESOLVED, That the best interests of the County of San Z~,teo .and its people,its highways,its school its public buildings,its public charges and dependants,wi I be subservedby the adoption of so~id Constitutional Amendment. Coast Steel Company to ascertain if their gaurds were insured under the em~loyers liability Act. The following resolutio~ ~,~f tlnen int~'oduced by Trustee Cunning~ham. l~esolved by the Board oi' Trustees of tLe ~ity of South S~n Francisco that John Moore, W,S~ Snook William Elliott and W.J. Lee be, and theyhereb~' are s~pointed Deputy Li~rshslls of the City of South San Francisco,to serve without compensation.
