HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1919-08-25 Regular adjourn meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco held Monday August 25, 1919. This meeting Was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Trustee G. W. Holston President of the Board. Roll Call found all Trustees present to wit: F. A. Cunningham, A. J. Eschelbach. M. F. Healy, J. H. Kelley. and G. W. Ho!arch. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Kelley seconded by Trustee Healy and regularly carried were a~proved as read. A petition was received from C. Cabano to hold dances on San Bruno Road in a build- ing owned by H. Knoth. After a lengthy discussion the Board declined to take action. A communication was received froh the Mendocino State Hospital of Ukiah in answer' to one of the City Clerk of the 19th inst., and relating to the case of Joseph Castro Jr.: The answer stated that the authorities at the hospital would be very glad to have Dr. McGettigan examine the patient and to offer him all courtesies of the Hospital. This being the date set for the reception of bids on $~,000 Municipal Bonds of the City of South San ~.rancisco it was moved by Trustee Cunningh$m seconded by Trustee Kelley and regularly carried that the Bids be opened. The only bid received was that of:Wm. Statts Co, who offered a premium of $59S.40. The following resolution concerning the bid of Wm. starts was then ~ntroduced by Trustee Cunningham. Whereas the Board of Trustees did, in open session, on the 25th day of August 1919, pub- licly open and examine all bids and proposals submitted for the purchase of the $129,000.00 of municipal bonds authorized at a special election held June 10th, 1919, which bonds are fully described in Ordinance No. 104 of said City of South San Francisco, passed and adopted July 21, 1919; and Whereas said Board of Trustees de'ems:the :sumz'ofom~ne~ offeredi_for sai~ b~nd~ to be in- sufficient in amo~mt; Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that all said bids and proposals be, and the same hereby are rejected. -,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,-,- I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Cityn of South San Francisco this 2~th day of August, 1919. by the following vote: Ayes Trustees F. A communication was received from the State Board of Health asking that our City Health officer be sent to the llth annual conference of Health Officers to be held October ~0, 1919 at Riverside, Cal., and asking that the State Board of Health be advised if the City of South San Francisco would send our Local Health Officer. The city clerk was instructed to notify the State Board of Health that our Health Officer would be present. A. communication was received from the San Mateo Division of the State Council of ~efence of Cal, thru its chairman Elsa MoGinn, asking that South San Francisco Join in a Wlecome A petition was received from C. Action on the same was~e~e~ until the next meeting of the Board. 278 At this time it was proposed that a Welcome nome be given to the returned soldiers of South San Francisco and in compliance with a request made to the President of the Board of Trustees, he thereupon appointed a Citizens Committee to take full charge and make all arrangments for such a celebration. Tho committee appointed was as follows: J. C, McGovern, B. H, Truax, A. McSweeney, E. E. Cunningham, A. P, Scott, A. J. Eschelbach. and L. Adams, Moved by Trustee Eschelbach seconded by Trustee Cunningham that W,W. Brawn be appointed to act as Plumbing Inspector until the return of Chas. Schurk, to take the place of W. Chrisman who tendered his resignation. Motion Carrned. The felling resolution was then introduced by Trustee Kelley. Reso~ved by The Board of Trustees of the City of Bouth San Francisco that the Salary of the Deputy Tax-Collector be, and the same hereby is increased from Sixty-five ~$6SI Dollars per month to Eighty-five {$8§} per month. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced, and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San ~ranoisco this ES,th day of August 1919, by the following vote: Ayes, Trustte: J.
