This meeting was called to order at 80' clock p. m. by Trustee G. W, Eolston President of the Board. Roll-Call found the following Trustees present ~. A. Cunnigham, A. J. Eschelback, J. H. Kelle~ G. W. Holston. Absent Trustees: M. ~. Healey. The reading of the ~inutes of the last meeting were dispensed with. Moved by Trustee Kelley ~s~on~e~ bY Cunningham that the Bids for t~e improvement of Swift Ave be opened . Motion carried The Bids were then opened and read and were as follows: Eaton and Smith. Nor grading $1.45 per cubic yard, for Concrete paVemen~ .2~ per sq. ft. , Construction of 9orregate~ Iron Culverts $4.00 per lineal ft. '~ A. J. Raisch, Grading $1.34 per cubic ~ard, Concrete pavementS. 24.?/10 cenSs per sq. ft. Construction of Corregated Iron Culver $4.00 per linear ft. It being determined that the bid of A. J. Raisch was the lowes~ bid received he was by resolution awarded the contract for the Swift Ave. which resolution was introduced by trustee Eschelbach and is as follows: NO. 39 Whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco did, in open session~he 18th day of November, 1919, publicly open, examine and declare all sealed proposals or bids for doing the following work in ~aid city, to-wit: That Swift Avenue, fzom a line drawn at right angles to the center line of said Swift Avenue at a point three thousand seven hundred ninety (~,790) feet easterly along the center line of Swift Avenue from the intersection of the center line of Grand Avenue with the center line of Swift Avenue, to thm ~asterly 'termination of said Swift Avenue, ~improved as follows: By grading said Swift Avenue to official line and grade for the full length and for the width of thirty-three (33) feet; By. constructing therein, for the full length hereinbefore mentioned an asphaltic concrete pavemen~ eighteen (I8) feet wide, consisting of an asphaltic concrete wearing surface one and one half~(1 1/$ ~nohe§*'in thickness laid on a cement concrete ~ase six (6) inches in thickness; by constructing therein four (4) circular corrugated iron culverts, each having a diameter of eighteen (18) inches, at the places shown upon the plans here inafter mentioned for the construction of said culverts. All work here in provided for shall be done to official. ~rade and in accordance with the sPecial plans and specifications for said work, w~.,~h ~lan~:and specifications are entitled" "Plan~ and Specifications for the construction of improvement work on Swift Avenue, in the City of South San Francisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, which avenue is fully shown u upon theplans hereto attached, which are made a part hereof", which plans and specifications were heretofore adopted by said Board of Trustees on the 2Zrd d~y of June, 1919, and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk, to which plans and specifications reference is here-by made for ~a further description of said work and for the location and extent of the work to be done hereunder f and for a'~a:~icular description of the boundaries of the distri$$ herein mentioned. Any duplication in any of the work hereinbefore described shall be ignored. There is excepted, however, from the above mentioned work any and all such work as has been already done to official grade. And said Board of Trustees did, in said ~esolution ofIntention-~No. ~9, determine and declare that said proposed work and improvement is of more that local o~.Ordinary public benefit, and will affect and benefit the lands and district hereinafter described, which said distric~ is declared in said Resolution of Intention, t~be the district benefitted by said work and improve- ment, and that therefore the entire costs and eEpenses of said work and improvement shall be made chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district, except as herein expressly provided, which district is within said City of South San Franchico, County of Ban ~ateo, State of California, and particularly bounded and described as follows. to-wit: Beginning at the Northwest corner ef the lands owned by W. P. Saving, excepting and excluding from said district all streets, avenues, alleys, lanes, courts and places included and contained. Notice is hereby given that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments, and bear interest a at rate of seven (7) percent per annum wil I be issued hereunder in the manner speoifie~ in the "Improvement Bond Act of 1915", and the amendments thereto, the last inst~llment of which bonds shall mature nine (9) yesrs ~rom the second day of July next succeeding nine (9) months from their date. Except as hereinbefore provided, all of the herein proposed work shall be done in pursuance of an act of the Legislature of the State of California, designated as "The Improvement Act of 1911", approved April, 7, 1911, and amendment~ thereto. Resolved that s$id Board of Trustees hereby rejects all said proposals or bids except that next herein mentioned, and hereby awards contract for doing said work and improvement, to the low est responsible bidder, to-wit: A.J. Eaisch At the prices named in his bid, to-wit: Grading, One and Z4/loo Dollars(SI.Z4) percubic yard: corruga~ion~¢ulverts, Four Dollars ($4.00) per leni~l ffoot; asphsltic concrete pavement, twenty four and seven tenths cents ($0.247) per sR. ft, The City Clerk is hereby directed to post notice of this ~ward conspicuously for Fiwe ~ays 15) on or near the Council ~hamber door of this board and also to publish this notice by Two (~) insertions in "The Enter p~i~e", a weekly newspaper printed and published in sa~d City and hereby designated for that purpose by said Board of Trustees. - 00-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-0-O-O- I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution w~s regularly introduced and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 18th day of November, 1919~by the Ayes Trustees F.a Cunningham A.~/Eschelbach, J.H.
