HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1922-12-18 Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San ~rancisco held Monday, DeCembel 18th,1922. The meeting was called to order by Trustee G.W.Holston, President of the Board, at 7;30 o'clock' ROLL CA~L. Roll call found the following Trustees present, to-wit;- Trustee, F.A.Cunningham, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston. Absent, Trustee, A.J.Eschelbach. Trustee Eschelbach appeared after roll call. The minutes of the previous meeting were zead and upon motion of Trustee Scampini seconded~by Trustee Pitt ~aud~re~arly carried were approved as read. A communication was received J.W.Henderson, sttorney for J.W.Virgin, who had requested permissio~ from the Board to cut some Eucalyptus trees in front of his property. Attorney Henderson stated that if the Board would grant Mr. Virgin permission to fall the trees he would do so at his own expense. The Bo~ decided to allow the trees to be topped to wit$in fifteen feet of the ground, and instructed the Clerk answer Mr. aenderson's letter to this effect. South City Lodge, Nc.SS2, L.0.0.M.,made application for a permit to hold a dance in Fraternal Ha~ Saturday evening December 30th,1922, the same to last until two A.M. the followizg morning. Granted. The Fontana Food Products Co. submitted a commmnication stating that~they ~ad paid their taxes al would expect a refund of the taxes om the buildings, according to a previous request. The communication was accepted and the Clerk instructed to issue warrant ~or a refund of the~taxes on buildings in the amount of $740. Residents of the Baden Station District and other districts of South San Francisco to the number of 77, petitioned the Board to construct a street~between Orange Avenue and Third Avenue, in Los Cerito~ Tract. City Engineer ~neese stated the undertaking of such a project at the present time would be an expensive one, owing to the great rush of waters through that region in the winter season, necessitatin~ the construction of heavy concrete bridges. Manager Thayer of the Land Company was in attendance at the ~eeting, and stated that if the matter could be laid~over for about six weeks it might be possible to Secure a better and cheaper road further north, nearer the Grand Avenue extension, where his company is about to develop a considerable tract of land. It was agreed to postpone action until such time. An application for a permit to construct a two-story class "C" concrete building, cnW.half of ~ot 6, Block 125, was received from Silvio Nieri. Permit granted. Joseph G.Walker aDpeared before the Board and stated that the Eucalyptus trees on Miller avenue are destroying the sidewalk, and asked that they be removed. Referred to the Street Committee. RESOL~TION. Trustee Cunningham introduced the following resolution;- Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco that the offer of S.B.Mc~en~ to pay Fifty Dollars ($50) in settlement of the case of City of South San Francisco VS McLenegan Et Al, and the same hereby is accepted. The Sresident of the Board of Trustees is hereby authorized to execute a release of the claim of said City. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the 2 of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco, this 18th, day of December, 1922, by the following vote, Ayes, Trustees, F.A.Cunningham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston. Noes, Trustees, None. Absent, Trustees, None. The clerk was instructed to stop payment by the Bank of South San Francisco and the City Treasurer and issue a new check.
