The meeting was called to order at 7;30 o'clock p.m. by Trustee G.W.Holstom, President of the Board. ROLL CALL. Roll call foumf all Trusteeb',present, to-wit;- Trustees, F.A.Cummingham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Hols'ton. The minutes of*the previous meeting were read, and upon motion o.f ~rustee Eschelbach, seconded by Trustee Scampini amd regularly carried were approved as read. The laid over applioatioms for soft drimk licenses of The Jumiper Avenue Gracery Store~and Johm Aselio were again laid over for further investigation of the sureties, The ap~tion'0f the City.Firemen for'.one day . A commtuaioation was received from Assistant Engineer Robert Klassen. stating that $1085.75 was due the San Frameisco Motor .Drayage Company as a second estimate on their contract to grade the Civic Center Site. Ordered taken up ttuder the head of Bills. Judge J.G.Walker appeared before the~Board and asked for the use of a typewriter and also for permission to place locks upon his desks. In the matter of the typewriter the purchasing committee was instructed to attend to it, and the Judge was instructed to have locks placed where necessary and send the bill to the Board. RES0~UTION ORDERING THE WORK The following resolution was intruduced by Trustee Scampini;- Resolved that, whereas the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Framcisco did. on the second day of April, 1~23, pass 'its resolutTon of intention No.51 to order the hereinafter described work to be done and improvement to be made in said city, which resolution of intention was duly and regularly published as required by law, as appears from the affidavit of Robert Speed, now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; and Whereas notice of the passage of said resolution of intention No. 51 headed "Notice of Improvement" was duly and. legally posted along the line of said contemplated work or improvement and in front of all the property liable to be assessed therefor, and along all the open streets within the district hereinafter described, in form and manner as required by law, as appears from ~he affidavit of R.A.Klaseen who,after the completion of the postimg of said notices filsd his affidavit in the office of the City Clerk,, making oath that he completed the posting of said notices on the 10th day of April,1923; and Whereas, at no time has any person delivered to the City Clerk of said'city or to said Board of Trustees a written protest against said work, or any part thereof, or against the extent of the district hereinafter described, or against both said work and said district. Therefore be it resolved that public interest and convenience require the work hereinafter. described, and the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco hereby orders the following work to be doz~e im said city,to-wit; Boumdary That Swift Avenue from the easterly, line of the right of way of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company to a line drawn at right angles to the south boundary line of Swift Avenue at a point in said ~ south boundary line 525 feet easterly from the angle point in the southerly line of Swift Avenue immediately easterly from the southerly termination of Allerton Avenue, on the southerly side thereof.. but excepting such portions of said avenueas are required by law to be kept in repair by any person or' compamy having railroad tracks thereon,be improved by grading and the construction of a decomposed granite sidewalk, the construction of wooden bridges, and a corrugated iron culvert and a vitrified salt-glazed ironstone oipe sewer. Ali work herein provided for shall be done to official grade and in accordance with the special plans and specifications for said work, which plans an~ specifications are entitled "Plans and specifi- cations for the construction of street improvement work on the so-,ti~erly side of Swift Avenue in the City of South San F~ancisco, County of San Mateo, State of California, which avenue is fully shOWn upon the plams hereto attached, which plans are made a oart hereof", which plans and specifications were heretofore adooted by said Board of Trustees on the second day of April,1923, and are now on file in the office of the City Clerk. to which plans and specifications reference is hereby made for a full description of~ said work and for the, location and extent ofthe work to be done hereumder and for a particular ~escription of the bo~uadaries of the district herein mentioned. Ail such work is to include any and all street intersections and street terminations and opposite terminations of, in and to all the aboee mentioned streets and tho~e to respective lines above mentioned, as is more particularly shown Upon said plans. Any duplication in any of the work hereinbefore described shall be ignored. There is excepted, however, from the above mentioned work any and all such work as has been already done to offici grade. And said Board of Trustees did, in said resolution ~f intention, deternine a~d declare that said proposed worE:and':i~provement is of more than local or ordinary ~ublic benefitand will affect and benefit the lands and district hereinafter described, which said district is in said Resolution of Imtemtion declared to be the district benefited by said work and improvement and that therefore the entire costs and expenses of said work and improvement shall be chargeable against and shall be assessed upon said lands and district, e::cept as hereinafter expressly provided, which district is within said City of South San Framcisco, County of San Marco, State of Oalifornia, and particularly bounded and described as follows, to-wit; Beginning at the northeasterly corner of the W.P.Fuller and Company's 17.A? The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice of 'said work~,together with the plans and SPecifications therefor, conspicuously for f~ve days (~) on or.near'the Ccumcil Chamber~door imviting s~aled nroposals for doing the work ordered,he is also directed to publish a moti~e inviting such proposals, and referring to the~ specifications posted or on file by two~(~) imsertiona in "The E~terpr~ a weekly newspaper published and circulated in said City of South San Francisso, and hereby desigaated that purpose. I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was ~e~ularly introduced amd adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 23rd day of April, 1923, by the following vote;- Ayes, Trustees, F.A.C~ingham, A.J.Eschelbach, J.W.Pitt, H.Scampini, G.W.Holston.
