The Board was called to order at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by Trustee G.W.Holstom, ?resident of the Board,
ROLL CALL.
Roll call fo=md the followimg Trustees presemt, to-wit;-
Trustees, F.A.Cummimgham, A.J.Eschelbach, H.Scampimi amd G,W.Holstom,
Absent, Trustee J.W.Pitt. Trustee Pitt appeared after roll call.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and upon motion of Trustee Cunningham ~'econded by
Trustee Eschelbach and regularly carried were approved aS read.
, A communication was received from the South San Francisco Land & Improvement Company. in response
to the city's letter concerning their intentionsrelative to a proposed roadway acroms Willow Swamp
to:the Los Ceritos Tract. The letter stated the company was in consultation with the United Railroads,
the Southern Pacific Company and the Spring Valley Water Company with a view to confining the flood water~
of Colma and Baden Creeks into a channel. The company adeised that they expected to begin work on the
project this summer, and that the city would be at much less expense if the flood waters were first
controlled. The city clerk was instructed to reply stat*~ that the city is most anxious to proceed
with the undertaking and inviting the general manager, to accompany a committee of the Board of Trustees
with the committee of the Chamber of Commerce alreadyappointed. '~ to look over the proposed roadway.
Andrew Hynding appeared before the Board and spoke in favor and introduced the resolution of
Willis K,Polk. advocating the beautification of the San Franoisco Peninsula. On motion of Trustee
Cunningham seconded by Trustee ESchelbach~and regularly carried the resOlution was~-ad~pted, and the
Clerk instructed to foeward a copy to the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco and one to the Board
of Supervisors og San Marco County.

Whereas said weeds have aatained such a large growth as to become a fire menace when said
weeds shall become dry and dangerous;
Resolved by the Board of Trustees of the City of South S~ Francisco that the weeds growi~g
on all the portions of the streets hereinbefore described be, and the same hereby are declared to be
a public nuisance and that it is the intention of said Board of Trustees to order sa~d nuisance to b~
abated;
Said Board of Trustees hereby determines and declares tha~ said n~isance exists in front of
the following described~pro~erty, all of which is situated in the City of South San Francisco, County
of San Mateo, State of -alifornia, and particularly described as follows, to-wit:

fron~ of all property in fron~ of which said nudsance exists, and not more than one hundred {100) feet
in ~istance apart, but not less than three (~) in all, notices headed "Notice to Destroy Weeds" in ma~
and form required by law.
All of the herein proposed work of abating said nuisance shall be done in pursuance
an act of the ~egislature of the State of California entitled "A~ act authorizing municipalities to
declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing upon the streets or sidewalks, or upon private property
within municipalities, ~o be a public nuisance, creating a lien upon the property fronting upon such
streets or sidewalks or upon which such nuisance exists for the cost og abating the same",approved May
26,1915.
I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution of intention was regularly introduced and'
adopted by the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco this 25th day of Aoril, 1923,
