The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the City of 2outh San Francisco was held~., in the City Hall ~onday evening, idarch 7th,192?. The meeting was called ~o order at 7;~0 o'clock p.m. by Trustee F.L.Cunningham, ~resident'ii of the Board. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following members present, to-wit;- Trustees, Eschelbach, Lloyd, Tibbett§Cunningham. Absent, Trustee Einucciani. The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and there being no errors or omissions were a~proved as read. A communication was received from the San Mateo Co~mty Chamber of. Commerce inviting the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco to take membership in the new county organiza- tion, The dues for membership being ~1£.00 per annum. The clerk was instructed to reply ~tating the board would give the matter earnest consideration. Application for permission to erect an electric sign at ZS? Grand Avenue was receiyed from Jos. Laib Jr. Permission was granted provided the installation is mede under existing ordinances· A petition was received from the Taxpayers Association of South San Francisco asking the · board's permission to hold an open meeting of th~ as~'ociation in the City ' Hall on Thursday March 24th. ~ermission granted. , The Western Pipe and Steel Compm~y made application for the a-'~.pointment of their Plant Guard as a Deputy City Marshal. Application granted, wiihout pay. Joseph Montes of the y. ipe and steel company was selected to act as Depity City Marshal, and was: later sworn in. Request was made by the South Sa:/. Franci~,co Fire Department for the use of the City's Counc Counc:il Chambers for a meeti~';g place of the Associated Firemen on Tuesday eve~i.ng, March 15th,1927, and the request granted. William Byrne submitted an application for the position of Engine Driver in the fire department. A~'i'licati~m ordered, filed· A cormunication was received from the Parish. an Cleaners asking for a ~ermi[ to install a 25 gallon tank for keres~_ne by the-gravity system. Referred to the Fire Marshal and City Attorney. V.Boido made application for permission to move two houses from lot 20, block 125 to lot' 18, block 125. Permissio~ granted. A communication was receiw~d from the Chairman of the Legis].ature Con~,ittee of the Sacrament .City'Council asking the Board of Trustees of the City of Sou;h San Francisco to ?a~'s a resolution indorsing the Inman bill to remove all State Dep~rtments back to the City of Sacramento. Communication ordered placed on file. The reports of the .Fire Marshal, Chief of Police, City Inspector, School i~urse, Treasurer, and City Clerk for '~he month ending February 28, 1927 were next read. The re?crt of the city clerk showed the fo]lowing balances in the various funds, - General Fund, ~16,694.7~, Library Fund, ~2,00654, 1913 Sewer Fund, ~2,75774 1919 Improw~ment Fund,~5,561.S1, 1923 ~ewer Fund, ~10,551.46, Park Fund, ~?10,250.42, Revolving fund ~100.00, Street Assess:~ent Funds, $1502.08, Balance in all funds, ~49,734.58. On motion by Trustee Eschelbach ~econded by Trustee Lloyd and regularly carried the reports were accepted as read. Judge Farrell aapeared before the board and stated that the convention of Justices of the Peace and Traffic Officers would be held in South San Francisco on the 23rd of A~ril', and requested a donation for entertainm' nt l:urposes. The board voted tho sum of ~25 toward defraying the expenses of the convention. President Cunningham announced '[hat the Board of Sdhool Trustees would require the services of a police officer daily duri:~ school days ~or a half a day, and would pay half the salary of a city police officer. 0f[icer B~ldhauer was selected for this duty. The clerk was instructed to pay officer Bildh~-uer half the present salary monthly, the school board i.aying the balance. The new arrangement beginning March lst,1927. City Engineer George Kneese submitted progress Estimate No.1, grading of the Civic Center and filling Orange Avenue. The estimate showed Larson Brothers, the contractors, e~titled to the s~ of ~1350 as a first payment. The claim was ordered paid.
