The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of th,~ Cit~: of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening, April 18th,1927. The meeting was called to order at 7;~0 o'clock P.M, by Trustee F.A.Cunningham, Uresident of the Board. ROLL CALL. Ecl! call found the following trustees present; to-wit;- Trustees, Eschelbach, Lloyd, Tibbetts, Cunningham. Absent, Trustee LI,Minucciani. The minutes of the previous three meetings were read', and there being no errors or omissions were aI~proved as read. A communication wa~ received from J.K.McCloud asking permission to remove a tree from in front of his lot 848 Gra~d Avenue. Permission granted. The ~elody Club was granted permission to hold a ~asquerade Ball in Fraternal Hall on Saturday April 3oth.192V. Permission grahted. The Happy Three Club made application for a permit to hold a dance in Fraternal Hall on Saturday '~.~ ~ . evenz-o May 28th,!927 Permit granted. The Sociedad [:utualista idexicana, Chappultepec, made application for a permit to hold a dance in Fraternal on Saturday evening June 4th, 1927 between the hours of 8.p.m. and I a.m. Permission grante, Laurance J.Nieri,truck drive fireman, presented his resignation to the board. Resignation accepted, to take effect L~ay lst,1927. The Enterprise Foundry Comp~ny petitioned the board for additional fire prolection under the new proposed i~rogram of o×iending the fire service. The clerk was instructs0 to answer stating every consideration will be given all industries as well as small houseowners in 'the distribution of mains, hydrants and o~er fire protection materials. A petition was received from a number of residents in the vicinity of block 83 asking that an electric light be placed in the alley of that block midway between Orange and Eucalyptus ..Avenues. Referred to the street committee. Application was made by Mrs, J.N.Blanchard for'a refund of ~1.56 paid for the c]ezring of weeds charged against her lots 40 and 41, block "A" Peck's Subdivision. 0:~ motion by truslee Eschelbach seconded by Trustee Lloyd the claim was a]lowed,~z 'well s.s the claim of Martin Oasagrande for ~2.08 refund ~eed claim. The Galland Mercantile Lamadry ws.s given the towel service bAsiness commencing _lay ]st,l~27, and the clerk instructed 'to notify The Oakland Ca?ifornia Tawel Co~,pany to discontinue service from that date. ~ Resolution Acce?tin Deed. Trustee Lloyd introduced a resolution of t~le Board of the Board of Trustees of the City of South San Francisco declaring its intention to improve Elm Avenue,?ortions of Locust Avenue and ~ Orange Avenu$, Tamarack Avenue and other avenues and certain areas of land shown u]~on the plans adopted by said Board of Trustees on the 18th day of April, 1927. The resolution was adopted by the m'mnimous vote of the members of the board present. Recorded in Book o~ Reso!u~ions, vol 2, at pages 137 to 139. ~ This being the date set for hearing protests against the issuance of bonds under street proce.~dings ~56, the paving of Chest~ ut Avenue, President Cunningham asked if there were any persons present who wished to protest or any written protests against the same. Hearing none Trustee Eschelbach introduced a resolution providing for the issuance of the street improvement bonds, prescribing the denominations of such bonds, and the interest coupons ~t~ached. Attorney Anj, elo Scampini appeared before the board to represent Antone Augustine, a shoe repairer on ~aden Avenue ben'ween 1,2ai'le and 'Spruce Avenues, in the residential district,and asked the board lo al. low the place to continue ~mtil the next meeting, when he would ask definite decision by th the board as to the status o£ Au~.~ustine in the district. Permission granted. i~eferri~g to the petitions on many citizens and ta×i,ayers for better fire protection throughout the city President Cun~ingham stated the trustees were giving the subject particular attention, and that in the near £uture ii would be decide~ whether a bond issue v, ould be asked or payments from ~he general fund to increase the efficiency of the fire department. The motion was seconde~ by Trustee Lloyd and regularly carried. There being no further business before the board Truetee Lloyd moved to adjourn until L~onday, April 25th,1927 at 7;Z0 o'clock p.m. The motion was seconded by trustee Eschelbach and reg carried.
