The regular meeting of t~e City Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall ~onday evening, August 15th,192?, The meetin~ w~s called to order at 7S0 o'clock ~,.m. by Councilman ~.J.Lschelbach, ~ayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all the members of the City Co~mcil present; to-wit;- Councilmen, H~mding, Lloyd, ~inucciani, Tibbetts, Eschelbach. The minutes of the previous meeting were read, and there being no errors or omissions Councilman Hynding moved they be adopted as read. The motion was ~,econded by Councilmsn Lloyd and regularly carried. A communication was received from the pacific Coast Steel ~ a crop .ny asking for 'the appointment of R.D.Brown as a Deputy Ivlarshal to be stationec at their plant only, and without pay from the city. On motion by councilman Lloyd, seconde:.: by Cotmcilman H~uading and reoularly carried R..D.Brown was appointed a special policeman wizhou't' salary, under Chief of Police Belloni. Fire Chief Costa submitted arequest to the eom:oil that the ground around the hydrants in front of the Western Meat Compan~s plant be graded and repaired. The clerk was instructed ~o write the Western 21eat Company and state the city is not in a position to repair the grounds. Request was made by the Pacific Gas & Electric Com?any for -'~ermission ~o set a ¥.ole on Butler Road to provide a guy. Permission granted. The L{arket Street Railway Company replied to the city's request to remove a pole from the fron of the store of Bendinelli ' Co, 4?5 Grand Avenue, stating such a '~..rocedure would entail the movin,2 of all poles in the businesu district of Grand Avenue and o%~er streets., and did not feel justified in complying wit, h the request. Referred to City En~zneer Eneese for investigation. The Sociedad Idutualista I~e.~cana "CHAPULTEPEC",Branch No. i of South San Francisco a: plied fo', permission :.o hold a dance in Fraternal Hall on the night of August 20th,192? from 8 p.m. until i a.] Permit gran~ted. A communication was received from ldanuel J.Oosta requesting a permit %o con~'truct ~: garage of wood frame and corrigated iron in he rear of his lot 456 Grand Avenue. _Referred 'to the Build~ng Ins~'~e c tot. Communications v, ere received from the Sacramemo ~ham er of Conmerce and the City of Sacramen' inviting the City Councilmen and city officials of South San Francisco to the League of California ~junicipalities Convention to be held in Sacramento September 19th to 25th next. l,~ayor ~schelbach stated all city officials could attend who have time, and requested that those going should send the .names to 'the city clek for reservations, if des. ired. A.Vannucci appeared before the Coundil~,] requested action be taken in sevtlement of a claim against the city for damps?es done to his machine by the city fifo truck. Councilman ii~u~ding a??eed to-take the matter up with the Automobile insurance 0ompany for i,ir. Vannuuci. Councilman kynding re~orted that hydrants should be placed at certain points in Pa~.'t.y Terr before the layin~ of pavement~. 'It was agreed by ~e board that this was important and the im-rovemen L~red made.Cou~;,Hyndlng_. ~:~lso stated walks ~:hould be -.built at various placesin the Civic Center,and also · ¢or~=t stations, before the winter rains set in. Notice of sale of $40,000.00 m~micipal bonds of the City of South San Francisco, series 1927, above referred to ordered published twice in the Enterprise and Journal of South San Francisco, once on Friday, August 19th,192?, and on Friday, August 26th, 192~, and the date set for the sale o£ said bonds is Alonday, August 29~h,1927, at 7;30 o'clock p.m. in the Cozmcil Chamber of the City Hall of the City of South San Francisco.
