An adjourned regular meeting of the city council of the 'City of South San Francisco was held in the City Hall Monday evening, August lSth,1928. ~ This meeting was called to order at ?;50 o'clock p.m. by councilman A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL.~ Roll call foundall members of the counci~ present, to-wit;- Councilmen. A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, M.Minucciani. R~Tibbetts, A.J,Eschelbach. The minutes of the orevfous meetin~i-~ were read, There being ~o errorsor omissions Councilman LloyA moved they be adopted~as read. The motion was seconded by councilman Ttbbetts and regularly carried. A communication was received from tke Sociedad Mutualista Mexlcana. Incorporated, asking per~ission to hold a dance in Fraternal Hall Saturday evening,August 18 th, 1928 from 8 p.m. until one a.m. rermission granted, provided proper police precaution is taken. The South San Francisco Fire Department ma~e a request for the advance of the sum of Fifty Dollars to ~elp defray the expenses of their delegate to the convention of the California State Ftremen's Association at Redding, California, August 29th. The communication named Comrade 0.Bissett as their selection as delegate, bequest granted onmotion of Councilman Lloyd. seconded by Councilman Mtnucciant ~nd regularly carried. The South San ~'rancisco Elementary schools through ~uperintendent A.C.Kleemeyer made request upon_the city to increase the salary of the school nurse, Miss Anneke Eollewyn, from $70 to $75 per month, the school department having granted her the same increase. Om motion by Councilman Hynding, seconded by Councilman Minucciani and regularly carried the increase was granted, to commence July First, 1928, as per request, Jay W.~tevens, ~e~retarY of the Pacific Coast Association of Fire Chiefs Wr~3te the council recommending that the Fire,Chief and any other officials of the,Fire Department who ma~ have the time be sent to the convention of Chiefs at Sacramento, Califorhia, October let, to 6th, next. Matter laid~over for consideration. E.R.Anthony, Superintendent of the ~outhern Pacific Qompany. sent a communication to the council, referring to his conversation baa ~ith the council at the pre~ious meeting, stating his company is willing to put in a forty foot roadway across the tracks of the company at their own expense,~including sidewalk, at Swift and Grand A~enues junction, proviaed the Market Street Railway Company relocate their tracks in conformity with the balance of the improvements. The Southern Pacific Company will install a wig wag system and eliminate the gazes between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m, The clerk was instructed to communicate with the Chief Engineer of the Earket Street Hallway Company and request thai a representati%e meet with the Cit~ Council on the subject of re-locating the comsany's tracks, on ~riday. ~ugust l?th , at ll.a.m, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall. The report of Health Officer Dock for the month ending July 51st,was submitted to the counci~ and accepted, The request of the Pacific Coast ~teel Company to have the city dedicate the easterly ~ twent~ feet of Industrial ~'~ay to the steel company for spur track and switching purposes was ~ granted on motion by Councilman Hynding, seconded by Councilman Lloyd and regularly carried. The city attorney was instructed to draw up the hecessary documents of conveyance, In the matter of improving the roadbed of Industrial.Way it was decided to have the same paved with concrete. The Ctt~ Engineer and City Attorney were instructed to begin proceedings at once. The city attorney ahd the city engineer were also instructed to begin legal proceedin~s for the drainage system in connection therewith. The clerk was instructed to order a light placed at the southeast corner of Spruce and. Lux Avenues. The rezonlng com~ittee reques~ea further time to consider their problem. Fireman Nairani was granted an ~ncrease of ~10 salary per month.
