A special meeting of the City of South San Francisco was called by ~ayor A.J.Eschelb~ch for Tuesday evening, January 8th,1929, at ?;Z0 o'clock p.m. The City Council met in special session Tuesday evening, January 8th,19£9, at 7;Z0 o'clock p.m., called to order by Councilman A.J.Eschelbach, I,~ayo~ of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found all members of the council present~ to;wit~;- Councilmen,A.Hynding, R.Lloyd, ~.~inuccian, R.Tibbotts, A.J.Eschelbach. The reading of the minutes of the previoue meeting was dispensed with. Mayor Eschelbach, in opening the meeting explained the purpose of the special meeting was to consider the passing of,~a resolution endorsing the application of the Western Pacific California Railroad before the Interstate Commerce Commission of the United States for permission to construct a a railroad from San~Francisco to Redwood City. Accordingly Councilman Minucciani'introduced the following resolution;- WHEREAS, there is pending before the Interstate Commerce Commission of the United States an application of the Western Pacific California Railroad Company for a certificate of public necessity and convenience for the construction and operation of a railroad from San ~rancisco to Redwood City; and WHEREAS, the construction and operation of the proposed Western Pacific line will promote industrial ex~ansion, cause new industries to be established, provide desirable rail competition, result in increased bu~ness and add to our population and taxable wealth; and, WHEREAS, we, the undersi~gned members of the South Sau Francisco City Council assembled in meeting at South San Francisco on Tuesday, January 8, 19£9, firmly believe that the con- struction and operation of the proposed line will be in the best interest of South San Francisco and other cities and towns of San N~teo County; therefore be it RESOLVED, that we' hereby endorse said application and that the Interstate Commerce Commission be urged to grant the same;and be it further RESOLVED that~ a certified copy of this resolution be ~resented to the Interstate Commerce Commission and that a committee be appointed by the Mayor to represent the City Council of South San ~rancisco at the hearing to be held by the Interstate Commerce Commission Examiner at San Francfsco on January l?, 1929. J.Delehanty desired permission to re-inforee the concrete under the Parsonage to the extent of approximately 5 inches. The council unanimously agreed that permission sho should be granted, and the clerk was instructed to write the pasto~ to that effect. The business for which the meeting was called having been completed Councilman Minucciani moved to adjourn.
