The meeting was called to order at 7;30 O'clock by Councilman'A.J.Eschelbaoh, Mayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Roll call found the following members of the council present, to-wit;- Councilmen, R.Lloyd, R.Tibbetts, A.J. Eschelbach. Absent, Councilmen, A.Hynding and ~'.Minucciani. The minutes of the two previous meetings were read. There bein~ an error in the name of the new meat company the clerk was instructed to write the name "D.J.Metzger" instead of Nm. Metzger, after which the minutes were approved as read. A communication was received from the shell Oil Company ~sKlng r~7~rmission to relocate their Service ~tation to adjoining property on account of the Development of tk.e ~ay ~hore ~ighway occupying a certain portion of their land. Permission granted. San Bruno ~arlor Eo.269, E.S.G.W requested permission to hold a d~nce in ~raternal ~all oatur~ evening, ~une £9th,19~9. Permission granted. Applications for the position of building lnspector~ the full ~them, were received from c.E.Stahl and ~ichael Gottschalk. Applicatiqns ordere~ placed on file. T!_e cement Gun construction Company requested the balance of their check of $987.5£ for the construction of %he Hillside sign. Laid over until ~the next meeting. A communication was received by Health Officer DR.T.C.DoaE fro~. ~r. ~.G.Gillespie of the ~t~te Sureau of ~anitary ~ngineering, stating the ~outh San Francisco ~ater Supply is in good condition and that the city need have no fears as to th~ quali~2~ ' of the water. Co~nunication ordered filed. The reports of Health Officer DH.T.C.Doad and School Eurse AmaZe Kollewyn were received and nd~ accepted. An applicatio~ was received from Wm. Hickey & ~on to intall a pri~te gasoline tank at rear 31f Hef. to Fire Com. A card of thanks was received from Mrs. Fkorence Dominy and f~milj for the city's floral tibute to the family at the de~th of the city_'s l~te building inspector,W.W.Brawn. Accepted. An order providing for the issuance of Drovement bonds,¥rescribing ~he! ~denomination of suck bonds and of the interest attached thereto, against certair~ property on certain streets under aesolut~ Of Intention ~60, and showing the aggregate amount of the unpaid assessmer, t~ on the same to be $1665.07 was submitted by councilman a. Attest, Daniel EcSweeney, City Clerk. kecorded in Book of Resolutions, Vol.~, at pa~es, 248 and 249 Acting Building Inspector Hess Beatty stgted he had inspected the buildings moved by Frederic on Maple Avenue and found the work done in a satisfactory manner. Mayor Eschelbach therefor instructed the ~ity Clerk to return the $200 good faith deposit Mr. Hossi had placea with the city when securin~ permission to move and reconstruct the buildings. Acting Inspector Beatty stated Mrs. Baldassari Balbi had started to bull. on lot 3£, block 84, claimi her deceased husband had secured the permit some weeks before he died. The city clerk and inspector to were instructed to again go over the permit books and see if possible there might be an error. Acting Inspector Beatty stated Angelo Cenovesi requested permission to plaster and stucco She front of h~s building £06 Grand Avenue. The council granted permission. Attention was called to the councilmen that the contractors moveingthe buildings back on the Hew Bal Shore Highway are doing poor work and not complying with this city's ordinances. The Cit~ Clerk was instructed to write Engineer Peyson of the State Highway Commission ~nd request in the name of the city that the work be done according to local cit~ ordinances. City Engineer Klassen reported the ~ork of widening Thire ~tr~et, B~een,would cost approximatel $11,500.00. He stated it might be possible to secure the consent of all property owners in the tract to to contribute the sum of $15 per lot for the improvemeht. The city clerk '~as instructed to write all property owners in the territory affected and ask if they would agree to ~a~ this amount. Estimate for 2 $4.40 front Ft.Application of h.L.Button for permission to establish taxicab service in front of the ~mninsula ~msic Store was laid over. The matter of the improvement of Swift Avenue was laid over until Londay, June £4,at 7;JO p.~. Fire Chief John Costa was requested to furnish ~ complete list o~ the members of the Volunteer Fire Department in connection with future work to be undertaken by the city.
