The regular meeting of the city Council of the City of South San Francisco was held in the Ct Hall ~,~ond y evening, July 15th,1929. The meeting was called to otter at ?;30 o'clock p.m. by councilman A.J.Eschelbach, Mayor of South San Francisco. ~HOLL CALL. Roll call found the following members of the council Fresent, to-wit;.- Councilmen, A.Hynding,R.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. Absent, Councilmen, h. Lloyd, E.Minucctani. The n~inutes of the prerlous meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions Councilmaz Tibbetts moved they be adopted as read. The motion was eecondem by Councilman Hynding and regularly carried. A communication was received from the Seagrav~.Co~psny offering to inspect the n,otor pumpin~ engines of the city monthly for the sum of ~1.50 per.Tot inspection or labor. On motion by Councilm~ Tibbetts, seconded by Councilman Hyndtng the offer was accepted. A certificate from the Daniel Guggenhiem ~nd Guggenheim and Colonel Charles A. Linmbergh, was presented to the city of 5outh San Francisco, certi~ that this city has completed the work of identification for the service of aerial navigation. ~ert~ accepted by the city council. This being the date set for the hearing of protests against th~ improvement of Swift Avenue, ~'ayor Eschelbach asked if there were any persons present who wished t~ rroteS~'agains~:~La conten:pl~ ~ork or any written protests against the same. There bei~ouncilman Tibbetts introduced~a resolu~ ordering the work and setting the date for accepting bids for the in:¥ro~ement as August 5th,1929, ?;~0 o'clock p.m. The resolution was adopted b.j the ~ote of all the me~b~rs of the city council pre~ to-wit;- Ayes,Councilmen, A.~ynding, R.Tibbetts. In the matter of the improvement of Third Street, naden, by a x'o~untary assessment of properl owners of lots not fronting on Third Street in t[,e sum of al5.0~ for each lot 15 answers were rece~ b~: the city on the question. Seven were infarct of the prooosition, 2 s~gsinst, 5 for more informati¢ i in fa~or of it if the mejorit~ are. The clerk was instructed to ~,~,rite the Postmaster stating the ctt; engineer', has completed t~ numbering of all houses in the ~anes, ss well as correcting t~e misplacement of numbers ua some of l main streets. The city engineer was instructed to place signs on all t~'~e lanes,giving the names, at intersections. Councilman Ttbbetts was selected to attend to the supervision of the work. Carbageman Corso appeared before the council and protested against the payment of the gsrbag~ se, stating the same was too high, and ~s~ed the city cou~cil'to maintain the road into t~e Sump. ~k refused on the groun~ that his company agreed previously to maintain ti:e roads and pay the license designated by ordinance, i,la;~or Ms~helbach stated the city was keeping its agreement and expected the garbagemen to do ~he same. '!'he city agreed to furnish the rock and the garbagemen to make the roadws Assistant ~ngineer Xlassen reported that ouperlntendent Pack of the ~an Francisco Play, grounds would f~rnish ~his city w~th an estimate of the cost of equipment and planting ~n the city parks. ...... claims in the amount of ~:2184.99 were next ~resented to the council, audited b~ finance committee, and on motion by Councilman Titbitts, seconded b~' Councilman Hynding an~ regularl carried were o'~dered paid.
