The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of South San Francisco ~as held in the City Hall Monday evening, August 19th,1929. In the absence of the city clerk Councilman Hynding acted as clerk pro rem. The meeting was called to order at 7;30 o'clock p.n. by Councilman A.J.Eschelbach, ~ayor of South San Francisco. ROLL CALL. Hall call found the following members of th~ council present,to-wit;- Councilmen, A.Hymding, A.Llo~d, H.Tibbetts, A.J.Eschelbach. The reading of the minutes of the previous meetings was dispensed with. A communication was received from L.S.5mith requesting permission to install another gasoline puma at his station corner of California Avenue and San Bruno Road. On motion b~ Councilman Lloyd seconded by Councilman Hynding t~e necessary permission was granted. The Metal & Thermit Corporation requested information as the the basis o~ assessment the city would place upon their property ihe fiscal year 1929-1930. The clerk was instructed to state the valuation was placed at $1500 per acre this year. The South San Francisco Land & Improvement Company replied to the city's request to repair the sidewalks fronting Block 4, High School Park, stating the street is sunk on Pine Terrace and they are willing to put in sidewalks when the city has made the street repairs. Laid o~er for the street department's investigation. A communication was receixed from the Department of Public Health at Oacrsmen~o inviting the city's,~ealth Officer to attend the annual meet~n~ of Health Officer's in 0anland,0ctober 7 to ll next. On motion regalarly carried Dr. Doak was granted permission to attend. Request for a street lamp was made by residents of the vicinity of Eucalyptus Avenue above Lux Avenue. Referred to the street committee. Frank Ciffra made application 'for permission to construct a new roof on his store building at ~4~ Crand, and to stucco the front of sai~ store, The r~,of to be of fire proof patent shingle material Permission granted under the supervision of the building Inspector. The Standard 0il Company applied for permission to erect, maintain end operate warehouses, storage tanks, and other necessary buildings for the storage of petroleum and products on Linden Avenue on the e~st side southerly from Railroad Avenue. Permission granted. The monthly reports of tho Health Officer and Chief of Police were received and accepted. Claims in the amount of $635.25 ~,-ere next presented for pavement. Having b,en audited by the fina~ finance committee Councilman Tibbetts moved the be paid. The motion was seconded by Councilman Lloyd and re~'ularly carried.
