HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 03-2015 RESOLUTION NO. 03-2015 CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION COMMITTING $5.9 MILLION DOLLARS IN MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CALTRAIN STATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; AND ALLOCATING $5.9 MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE CITY'S INFRASTRUCTURE RESERVE WHEREAS,the existing South San Francisco Caltrain station is in urgent need of safety and access improvements; and WHEREAS, the contemplated capital improvements to the South San Francisco Caltrain station is a critical component to the City of South San Francisco Downtown Area Station Plan;and WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") is requesting that the San Mateo County Transportation Authority("TA")allocate funds from its Measure A Caltrain Program Area to fund construction of the South San Francisco Caltrain Improvement Project("the Project"); and WHEREAS,the City has been asked by the TA to commit$5.9 million dollars in matching funds to ensure the completion of the Project; and WHEREAS, Caltrain and TA staff has reviewed the request and found it to be aligned with the Special Circumstance criteria for advancing funds as provided for in the New Measure A Strategic Plan criteria of 1)urgency and 2) impact to the Measure A Project; and WHEREAS, the TA Board requires that the City Council adopt a resolution committing matching funds before the TA formally allocates Caltrain Program Funds; and WHEREAS, City staff recommends that the City Council commit $5.9 million dollars in matching funds to ensure the completion of the Project; and WHEREAS, sufficient funds are in the Infrastructure Reserve. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco hereby: 1. Commits to contribute the required matching funds,in the amount of$5.9 million dollars,for the completion of the Project. 2. Directs the Finance department staff to allocate$5.9 million from the Infrastructure Reserve for this Project. 3. Let it be known the City of South San Francisco commits to the completion of the South San Francisco Caltrain Improvement Project. I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 14th day of January, 2015 by the following vote: AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy Vice Mayor Mark N.
