The ?meeting ~as called to order at 8 o'clock P.M. by Mayor Georg~ W.Holston. Roll Call. Roll call found ~11 members of the co~ncil present, ~s follows;- Councilmen, V.Boido, George ~. Holston,Reese Lloyd, D.W.H~tto,Rod qib~etts. The~ minutes of the previo~s meeting were read. There being no errors or omissions they were ~a?proved as read. A com~unic~tfon w~s received from John Ru~ .... ~erio,owner of .86 hundredths of ~n ~ore on ~:~ys~ore Highway ~ne~r Richfield 0il Company requesting pe~ission to open ~n auto p~rking ~nd restaurant business on his property, r~inforcing and placing t~e oresent buildings in a sanitary condition. Council~:~n Hatto moved the desired pe~ission ce gr~nted. T~ e motion w~s seconded by councilman Doido ~nd re~ul~rly c~rried. TaSty Sweet Shop ~pplied for a pe~it to chan~'e or remodel the front of their store,Z01 Grand Avenue, at a cost of ~ppr0xim~tely ~0.Counoil~n Lloyd moved the pe~it be grmnted,The motion~w~s seconded by councilm~n Boido ~nd re~-ul~rl2~ carried. Harry Cavassa,Peninsul~ Drug Company,representing ~ Troup of yoking folks in t~e north end of the city,wis~ed to know if tLe city would light up the children's Playground ~t Linden & C~lifori~ Avenues until 9 o'clock at night. A letter of acknowled~ent and th~nks w~s received from the South San Francisco ~nified School [tstriact in ~ppreci~tion of t~e city's ~ood offices ~n hsvin~' the w~ter rates reduced. Councilman Ratto stated he had, and read from a statement m~:~ny' c~arges of alleged inefficiency on tke part of the cit7 enffineer,~'ir ~iarshall. he protested against the manner in which the engineer handled the matter of water and sand in~Colma Creek, referred again to~ the stump deal,clai~ing the city lost money in recei~n~ only .~147 for the orivilege of allowing stumps to be dumped, w?~en a mart t~me cogent showed 7~9 stumos were ~nloaded on the ~'ro~n~s, referred again to the constr~ction of the ~wer in ~aradise Valley and the construction of street work and drainage system there, statin~': water is oozing up tkrou~h the streets,street intersections and sidewalks ~nder~ined, lack of cz~lverts in the section, objected to accepting the work by the city,t?e city bein~ now responsible for maintenance,criticized the acce~-mtanoe of the library addition as an incomplete job not properly insr.,ected by the city authorities, stated Mayor ~olston w~s +o ko].,~ sn !~v~st~at!on on t~.e stump transaction and did not , blamed engineer i¥!arshsll for taking o~tsid~ work from t~.e ~'~n~ ~'~in~-.concers in the c't~ ~nd the c~ty, and ar:ain moved the offise of Ci't.w Engineer~be~-declared ~zacant and tl-.e c~ty return to the old system of engineering. .... On roll call councilmen Uolston, Boido and Tibbetts ~Toted NO, while councilmen Lloyd and Ratto voted AYE, Engineer ~!'arshall will contact the State FI cod control engineers at Sacramento to ?et action on the control of the flood waters coming into South San Francisco.
