REGULARLY ALJOURNED MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF SOUTt SAN FRANCISCO,P_ELD
MONDAY, SEPTEi~ER ~, 1941.
A regularly adjourned meetind of the city council of the City of South San Francisco
was held in the City Hall Nonday evening, September M~,1941.
This meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.M. by Nayor George W.Holston.
ROLL CALL.
Roll call found all members of the council present,as follows;
Councilmen,V,Boido, George W.Holston,Reese Lloyd, D.W.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts.
TLe reading of the minutes of the previous meeting was'dispensed with.
RESOLUTION N0.830.
Councilman Boido introduced a resolution of the City Council of the City of South
San Francisco calling for the adoption of plans and specifications, and the calling for
bids for the construction of an asphaltiC, concrete pavement on Grand Avenue, and setting
the date for the opening of such bids as ~onday, October 6,1941, at 8 o'clock p.m. in
the council chambers of the City Hall.
The resolution was adopted by the votes of all the members of the council,as follows;-
Ayes, Councilmen,V.Boido,George W.Holston, Reese Lloyd, D.N.Ratto,Rod Tibbetts.
Noes, Councilmen,Nome.
Absent, Councilmen,None.

A Communication was received from The South San Francisco Grove, No.lV1 U.AO.D.,
inviting the City Council to participate in the parade to be held on Sunday,October 8,1~41,
at 10 o'clock A.M,in tt~e fiesta celebration,and also to partici~ate in the coronation
ceremony on Friday,October 5, 1941, at 8 o'clock P.M~ Nayor ~olston to perform the
coronation ceremony. The invitation was accepted with the thanks of the city council/
~eferring to the city decorating for the occasion councilman Boido suggested that
it might be possible to secure the services of the decorators of °ay ~eadows, now taking
down their flags,bunting etc., TLe city agreed to place the cit~ flags out for the occasion,
but steted the old pole wires have been taken out. A committee consisting of Councilmen Ratto
d~ Tibbetts was appointed to visit Bay Meadows and see what arrangements could be made to help
the D~uids decorate for their 497~elebration.
Engineer ~arshall stated the Swift company was building a bridge across Grand Ave.,which
shows the pillars in the path of the driving public. The city clerk was instructed to write ohe
compan~~ not to proceed with the work until an investigation could be made.
On motion by Councilman Tibbetts, seconded by Councilman Ratto~regularly carried, the
salary of Sam Severini was rais~ed from ~150 per month to $165.per month, commencing~Gctober ~
of bitumul~ ~
1,1941. City engineer ~arshall reco~m~ended that a~thr~e inch coating'be place~on the sand
banks of the ~Olma Creek canal to pre~ent erosion of the banks shoul~ heavy rains co,ur again
this winter He estimated the cost to be $~VO0. Councilman Ratto believed this work to be un-
necessary in view of the fact settlinE basins$&chimneys are being installed and the canal deep-
ened and widened,After considerable discussion it was decided to call for bids to do the work.
The city attorney was instructed to prepare the necessary resolution calling for bids and the
adoption of plans and specifications for the work.
There being no further business bfore the board councilman Lloyd moved to adjourn until
~onday,October 6th,1941,at 8 o'clock P.M. The motion was seconded by councilman ~atto and regularly
carried. Time of adjournment, 8;~0 o'clock P.M.
