Three regular meeting of the City Co'~ncil of the City of South San Francisco was held in the Cit2 hall,~onday evening, January 7,1946.~ The meeting was called to order at 8 o'clock P.~. b2 ~ayor ~eorge W'.Holston. Roll Call. Roll call found all members of the city council present,as follows;- Councilmen, G.A.Anderson, Victor Boido,-Charles K.Elder,George W.Holston,M.~inucciani. The City Clerk,having forwarded copies of the minutes of t~e previous meeting to all members of the council,~ayor Holston asked if any members had noticed an2 errors or omissions. Hearing none he declared the minuteS,adopted as submitted. Works Engineer Charles T.BroUghton submitted a statement of the sewer situation between San Bruno and South San Francisco, showing that the s~m of $~5~5 is due ~e City of San Bruno on the project, and that the balance of the money received from the Eavy on~ubJect will be divided equally between South San ~rancisco and San ~runo. ~tatement accepted b2 the city council. A communication was received from the South San ~'rancisco City Employees' Association, enumerating the days upon which the County Civil ~ervice Hules~and Hagulations declare to be Holidays,and asked that the city do the same. Communication ordered filed. Discussion,was had on the laid over statement of tile Planning Commission regarding the- property offered by the Land Co., for recreation purposes. In order to give the city engineers further time in the matter ~i't ~ ~ was laid over until the next meeting of the city council. The City Clerk submitted two affidavits,in the matter of Street Improvement work described in Resolutinn of intention No.~84 , that he posted a n~tice of filing .unpaid assessments on the council chamber d~or on the ~Sth .day of November,l~45,and another one that he had deposited , in a sealed envelope, Ln t?Je ~nited States ma~- postoffice,in the City of South San Francisco,county of San ~ateo,State of California, a copy of ~he notice of filingalist of unpaid assessments, on the ~8tk day of ~ovember,l~45. Statements accepted. Peninsula Division , Lea ue of California ~unicipa~ities,, sent word that there would be a meeting of the league in Grace ~: Pierre's,E1 Camino "eal,Atherton,on ihursday January 1V,1946, at 6;30 P.E. and asked how many city officials would attend. The invitation stated Herbert A,0Lson ,Western Aepresentative Publi'c Administration Service, would be the guest Speaker. An election lwill be held for the position of Director. ~,~ayor Holston counted 8 who said they would attend, and the City Clerk was instructed to so announce to the Secretary of the Division. Western Pipe and ~teel Company submitted a statement protesting against the payment of taxes to the Cit2 of South San Francisco,for the 2earsl945-46, Heceived on the ~ day of December,1945. Communication ordered filed. Lawrence C.D~lley ,775 Circle Court, requested permission to complete the building of his - ' trailer in the rear of ~is lot. Councilman Minucciani moved the desired permission be granted. iThe motion was ~conded by councilman Elder and regularly carried. Angelo Jenovesi and ~,ae ~aber transferred their license,on sale general, from themselves to Angelo :denovesi ~ Ernest Genovesi, °06 Grand Avenue,ho.San ~::rancisc~. There were no objections. Mrs. Emma Kelly,G05 ~aden .Avenue, sued the cit~ in the sum of $1016.33 for damages done to ~ Let knee in falling on ~:aden Avenue sidewalk. ~he City Clerk was instructed to notifF ~he insurance Icompan~ of t~e c~ty's action, in denying liability, t A report was received fro~r the Department of industrial Hetatons,Division of Industrial Safety, of their findings in this city. ~he report was referred to Superintend~ntOof~Str~eSsrMr~Henry ~hweining, for investigation and action. Ir. Milton L.Bronstein,°O4 Jran~ Aven~e,applied for permission to alter his building at his address. Counci~lman Elder moved the desired permission be granted. The motion was seconded by councilman ~[inucciani and regularly carried. [r.Ysabel Toscano, applied for permission to ]old various dances in Fraternal ~all during she 12ear l~46,commencing February 3, on a ~unday. Councilman Elder moved the matter be laid over until the next meeting of the city council.The motion was seconded b2 councilman Einucciani and regularly carried. A communication was receiwd from Er. E.Piwald of t~e Hobinson Drug Stores,sskingfor permission to make alterations to his store at ~55 Grand A venue. Councilman Minucciani moved t~e permit be granted. Hotices were received from =r. Sutherland of the Pacific ~as & Electric Co.,tl~at the 600 CP la~ps on Linden AvenUe were replaced with 400 CP-~0 amp.lamps on ~ecember 16,1945. ~le stated that his bill will cover the 61)0 CP lamps from hovember l~ to December 15,inclusive. Thereafter the billing will he'for the 400 CP lamps ink. tailed on Decemoer 16,1945. lie also stated that th~ new lighting on Pop&ar Avenue between Palm and Park way was complete~ on December 15,1945. Communications accepted and filed. ~ The monthl~ reports of the Po~ndmaster,Buildin8 Inspector,City Judge,Chief.of Police and fire chief for the month of December,1945,were received and accepted. ~here were several bidsin for gaso~lne. The city council thought there should have been mor~. The2 asked that ~ore Olds be submitted before an2 action would be taken. ~;ayor Holston asked the audience if there were any eh~®e$®~e-t®- persons present who wished to object to the filing of the list of unpaid asses~m.~.~in Southwood, or any written objecttoms to the same. ~e*~e~e*~ne**. :his is under ~esolu~8~Wo.984~ There were no objections. Heferring to t?~e Acme Oeer Sign on the hill above the city,~ayor Holston asked Mr Coleberd if he would again ask~ ~r.
