Elder, Leo Ferko, Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi. ~iayor Leo Ferko called the meeting to order at 8:10 o'clock p.m. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and were approved as read. CORf~SPONLENCE: Buri-~uri Homes, !nc., addressed a communication to the city. council attaching plan of lots proposed for business zoning. On motion duly made seconded and carried same was referred to the Planning Commission. Communication was received from the Nobro Novelty Co. requesting permiss- ion to inst8ll amusement devices in various business places. Councilman Cortesi made a motion, seconded by Councilman Sani, that this matter be referred to the Chief of Police. ~,'lotion was carried. Communication was received from "The Horelos,Inc.' requesting permission to give a concert at the Grand Ave. School Auditorium Saturday, Sept. ~th from 6:00 n.m. to 9:00 n.m. On motion of Councilman Saul, seconded by councilman Cortesi, snd~regularl~r~it was granted on payment of r®- quired fee. Chief of Police a6dressed a cor~unication to the City council advising that he had appointed Vaushn E. Burkenhoff as guard at the Western Pipe & Steel Co. Dn motion duly made, seconded, rnd carried, this appointment was confirmed, Burkenhoff to act without pay from the cit~'. LINDEN AVE. SEWER BIDS: RESOi.UTi0N #11~1: LINDEN AVE. SEWER ~ARD: Councilman Eolston moved, seconded by councilman Elder, that the bids for the Linden Ave. sewer work be opened. Weber " " qz58.90 Erickson,Phillios e ?~eisberg " ~646.~0 McGuire &Hester being the lowest bidder councilman Sani introduced a resolution awardinS the contract for the Construction of a Sanitary Sewer in Linden Ave. to t~IcGuire a Hester. The resolution was adopted 'by the unanimous vote of all memfoers of the city council. Recorded in Volume 4, Book of Resolutions on Pa~i'e 92.. }~lotion was duly made, seconded and carried that the City Clerk return certified check and insurance bond to the unsuccessful bidders. PETER FbSTINI LICENSE: Peter R. ~hstini, disabled War Veteran, presented an application for business license to enga{!~ie in tlc vending of foods from vehicle in Sor~th San Francisco. He attached a report from Dr. H. A. Wald setting forth his disabilities. On r~otion of councilman Cortesi, seconded by councilma~ Ssai, and regularly carried per,m, it was granted without payment of license. DANIEL J. Daniel. SUN GLOW 0IL C0.: City ~lanning Co.v~issio!o ~!!ressed a communication to the citF council recorm:ending that the application of Sun Glow 0il Co. to erect a lubricat- ing oil refinery in South San Francisco be granted. Councilman Semi moved, seconded by councilman Elder, t~t the recom~rendation of the Plann- ing Cor~m:ission be accepted and that per.mit be ~.ranted to the Sun Glow 0~1 Co. to erect a lubricating oil refinery. Planning Commission a~idressed a communication to the city council recom~:ending that Parcels C and D in gouthwood 'iract be rezoned, for busi- ness. Co~.mcilman Elder moved tPat a resolute, on be drawn up rezoning this property. Councilman !iolston seconded the motion and same was carried. n . City Judge, Fire Chief and NONTHLY REPORTS: Reports of the City Clerk, Police '~ept , Building Insnector for the month of June were skbmitted and were annroved as read. CLAIm, S: Claims in tt~e amount of .i~6~84..~1 were presented to tLe finance comn'ittee for approval. On motion duly made, seconded and regularly carried the claims were ordered paid. LIBRARY BOARD: The terms of office of various members of the Library Board having ex- pired June ~0th Councilman Elder..moved, seconded by co~:ncilman Cortesi, that ~¥,rs. Charles J. Ledwith, Ers. J. G. Walker and l,lr. G. Carl 7, eller be reappointed. '±he motion carried. CENTRAL ICE: The request of rye Central Ice ih, Cold Storage to erect an ice storage building was brought up. As the company letter did not present the proper purpose of t~e building councilman Elder made a motion that the matter be laid over until same was presented in proper form. Councilman Cortesi seconded the motion and same was carried. GRAT iEROLA BUILDING: Request of James Oratterola to move house from Division St. to Lux Ave. was brought up. On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by councilman Communication w~s received from the Nobro Novelty Co. requesting peri. fas- ion to install amusement devices in various business olaces. Councilman Cortesi made a motion, seconded by Councilman Sani, that this matter be referred to the Chief of Police. I~otion was carried. Mr. Eitchell, representing Your Favorite Ice Cream Co., was present to explain his request for business license to retail ice cream. He stated he intended to use push carts operated by boys~ He was advised that each push cart would require a license fee of ~50. per quarter. RESOLUTION SliCe: 0UTFALL SEWER: Councilman BolSton introduced a resolution of the City of So~th San Francisco accepting the bid of McGuire and Hester for i he Construction of Sanitary Sewers in the City of South San Francisco. T,T ] T PROPOSED A~!:EXA~IOL AVALON PARK Petition for annexation of territory designated on Eap entitled Tract No. 5~4 ~ap No. 1 Country Club Park San ~ateo County was presented by Joseph S. Lodato. Mr. Lodato, under oath, testified the petitioners owned more than 1/4 of the land specified. Document was filed. RESOLUTION f~ll~: AVALON P;2qK: Councilman Elder introduced a resolution giving notice of proposed annexation of uninhabitated t~rritory to the City of South San Francisco, property identified as Avalon Park. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the ci~ council. Recorded in Volume 4 Book of Resolutions, on Pa~c 9§.. ANNEXATION RANCHO ~URI~BURI N0.~.: Petition for annexation of 89.8~9 acres described as Parcel 1 was pre- sented by Buri-Buri Homes, Inc. Er. Lloyd Simpson, Vice-President of the company, testified under oath that the petitioners were the owners of more than 1/4 of the land specified. RESOLUTION ~11~4 ANNEXATION RANCHO BURI~URI N0.2: Councilman Cortesi introduced a resolution of he City of South San Fran- cisco giving notice of proposed annexation of property described as Rancho Buri-Buri b~it No. 2. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the city council. Recorded in Volume ~, Book of Resolutions on Page ~YFAIR V_LLAGE WAIVER: Waiver of Provisions of Special Assessment and Investigation, Limitation and ~ajority Protest Act on certain parcels of land designated on ~ap entitled ~ayfair Village, sig~ed by R. F. Galli and Bernardine W. Galli was filed with the City Clerk. Chas. T. RESOLDTION ~11~6: INTENTION T0 DO IEPROVEMENT WORK IN ~IAYFAIR NO. ~: Councilman Holston introduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco declaring its intention to do improvement work in ~ayfair Village No. 2. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the city council. Recorded in Volume 4, Book of Resolutions on Pa?, 99.. PLANS FOR ~r. Trusty, of Paradise Valley, brought up the matters of recreation RECREATION BLDGS: 'buildings and rezoning of South San Prancisco. On the recreation build- ings councilman Elder made a motion that architect Rowe be instructed to go ahead with plans for these buildings. Councilman Cortesi seconded the motion and same was regularly ca~ied. ~.~r. Rocca, Chairman of the Planning Commission, stated the commission would go ahead with the rezoning survey as soon as time would permit.
