HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1947-01-27PLACE: TIME: ROLL CALL: CALL TO ORDER: MINUTES: ADJOURNED N~EETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, P]ELD MONDAY, JANUARY 2?, 1947 Council Chambers, City Hall, South San Francisco 4:15 p'clock p.m. Present: Councilmen G. W. Holston, Chas. K. Elder, Leo Ferko Adolph Sani, Emilio Cortesi Mayor~Ferko called the meeting to order at 4:35 p.m. The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the previous meeting to all members of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked if any errors or omissions were noted. There being none the minutes were approved as submitted. BUSINESS LICENSES: RESOLUTION #llSO: RESOtL~I'ION #llS1 - SECOND LANE IMPROVE- MENT: Due to a few changes in the business license ordinance reading of same was laid over until next meeting. Councilman Sani introduced a resolution vacating Resolution of Intention #1151 and Resolution #1162. The resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. Coul~cilman Elder ~ntroduced a resolution of the City of South San Francisco declaring its intention to improve Second Lane between Orange Ave. and Eucalyptus Ave. The resolution vas adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City Council. The.Personnel Board addressed a co.mmunication to the City Council advising that the following men had successfully passed the examination for the Fire Department: No. 1 John J. Orcutt 93.5% No. ~ Albert R. Questoni 82.8~ No. 3 Chester Luchini V5.5~ Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi, that the two high rating men be appointed immediately to the Fire Depart- ment and the third man be appointed as soon as certain arrange- ments could be worked out. Motion was regularly carried. A communication was received from the War Assets Administration requesting an answer to their letter of January 16th with reference to the 24.9 acres parcel of land in the Belair Shipyard ares. This matter was referred to the Norks Engineer for an exact description of the land needed by the City. HYDRANTS IN BRENTWOOD &BURI BURI SUBDI¥I~ SIONS: HIGH SCHOOL PARK TERRACE - MAP #2: Fire Chief Welte brought up the matter of .installing and paying for fire hydrants in the Brentwood and Burl Suri Subdivisions. The Fire Chief was asked to have the interested parties present at the Council meeting of February 3rd. Map of High School Park Terrace~was submitted by the Works Engineer. On motion duly made, seconded and carried same was referred to the Planning Commission. ADJOURNMENT: Mr. Bramble of Circle Court addressed the Council, complaining of the inspection of gas appliance in his home. He stated gas fumes endangered the lives of his family and the matter had not been properly tended to by the Building Inspector. Council- man Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi, that the Building Inspector be instructed to inspect all gas furnaces and appliances that have been installed recently, and if necessary that he call in an experienced man to help him. The motion was re g~larly carried. Councilman Elder moved, seconded by Councilman Sani that the office of the BUilding inspector be given assistance where needed with reference to inspection of electrical,gas, and plumbing installatic On motion of Councilman Elder, seconded by Councilman Sani and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to 4:00 p.m. January 28th.
