(Absent - Chaa. X' Elde~ The City Cler~ having forwarded: copy of the ~inutes of the pre~ioua meeting to all meabers of the City Council, Mayor Ferko asked if any errors or o~issions were noted. There being none, the minutes were approved aa submitted. Councilman Holston moved, opened. Motion was regularly carried. ~he following bids were submitted: ,T. M. Blomquist L. C. Smith Frank W. S~ith seconded by Councilman S~t that bids for basketball courts be $190& 2590.~O 2128.00 T. M-Blc~quist being the lowest bidder, Councilman Sani introduced a resolution 'accepting this bid in the amount of $1904.80. This resolution was adopted by the unanim~s vote of all members of the city council, present. Counnilean Nolstonmo~ed, seconded byCouncilaanSani that bids for sale of rcad roller be opened. Motion was regularly carried. L. C. ~sith submitted a bid of $100.00 for Tsnde~ ,Roller. On.orion of Councilman Saul, Seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, bid of $100.OO submitted by L. C. 3mith for roller was accepted. Communication was received fro~ the.Plannin& Cee~sion advising that letter frce the Division' of Highways regarding the granting of permits for large gatherings adjacent to main highways had been referred to Hahn, CampbeLl for Study. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the communication be accepted, and .filed. The Planning Commission reeoemended that southern boundary survey, as subeitted by the Works Engineer, be laid over until such time as the work can be done more easily and until city finances are in better shape. Motion was duly made, seconded and regularly carried that the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted, Works Engineer to be notified. ~eaolution was received from the Planning Co~nission recommending the rezoning of a certain area in Buri Buri. Same was laid over for later consideration. Resolution was received from the Planning Commission recommending the rezoning of certat-~ land in the. city. Councilman Holston introduced a resolution setting Friday, May 9th, 1947, at 4:30 p.m. as the date for hearing the'proposition to rezone this land. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all member~ of the city council.preeemt. ¢o,-,~tcatiOn wac received from the Pacific Gas & Electric Company advising that street light unit had been installed on Fourth Avenue. Communication was filed. Chief of Police· Belloni advised of the appointment of John Harold ~le for special police duty in the Buri Burl Homes Inc. Motion was duly made, seconded and regularly carried that this appointment be confirmed, Ehle to serve without remuneration from the city. Manufacturers Association advised the regular monthly neeting would be held T~,Arsday, May St 1947 at 12:00 noon. CommunicatiOn was received from Mrs. Rose Giannini advising that she had received notice from the County Nealth Inspector to abate nuisance. This matter was referred to the Works Fraternal Hall Association requested permission to alt6r the hall building at Al5 Grand Avenue. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that permit be granted. Yaughn H. Burkenhoff aubeitted application to engage in the business of operating crane machine derides. Councilman Sani ~oved, seconded by Councilma~$ortesi that permit be denied Motion was carried, Counc~l~ Nolston vOting no. Sons of Italy in America requested pe, rmission to hold dance in Fraternal Hall May31st. Motion was duly made, 'seconded and carried that pet~ission be grafted. Personnel Board addressed a commUnication to the city council recoamending that the length of residence of applicants for city positions be-reduced fr~a three years to 18 months. Same was laid over for the present. Personnel Board addressed a communication to the city council advising they wo~ call for exaaination.for Street Department UtilityMen unless they heard to the contrary within 30 da~.. ~Same. was laid over for consideration. Personnel Board addressed a comnunication to the city council adt~eing that Mrs. Eeelyn Collins had passed' the exaad~ation for typist-clerk with a grade of 71%. Motion was duly ·ade, seconded and carried that Mrs. Collins be appointed permanently, and the Personnel 'Board be so advised. ~era~el Board addressed a communicationto the city council advising that Mr. gildo Rozzi had ~ssed the exa~ination for Building.In,~pector with a grade of ?~%. Motion was duly :sade, seconded and regularly carried that Mr. Ro~zi be appointed permanently, and that the Personnel Board be so advised. Mr. Julio DiBasillio of 518 Palm Avenue advised that his boy had been bitten by a dog on Magnolia Avenue. As the dog' was rt~ing loose he' suggested that loos· dogs be muzzled. ~ This complaint brousht up the discussion of better dog supervision in the town, even to the' extent of replacing the present poundman. This. matter was laid over for further discussion at the meeting of May 9th, Works Engineer wuhmitted a ~mP outlining propesed improvement of Linden Avenue and suggested an assessment" district b~ formed to take care of this work which would cost approximately $100,000.00. Same was referred to the ~lanning Oommiuion. Reports for the month of April were submitted by the Fire .Chief, Chief of Police, City Judge, Building Inspector, Poundkeeper, and Health Inspector. Same were approved as !ubmitted. Claism in the amount of $14,26~.~2 were presented to the Finance .Committee for approval. .On motion duly made, seconded and regularly carried the elaine were ordered paid. AYALON SUBDIVISION: ASSISTANT BLDG. INSPECTOR: DE MA~CHI LICENSE: Communication was received from ~llsey, Broughton & Longson, Inc. advising that Mr. Lodato desired to retract offer of 'the Avalon Subdivision and the deed to Stanley Avemue and requested that the map and deed be meturned to the office. This matter was referred to the city clerk. The appei~_~taent of an A~sistant .Building Inspector was held e~er to ~ .later date. · ~" Building Inspector Rozzi advised that Leo DeMarchi was making the necessary changes required to ~rmit him to open garage, at 2~3 Armour Avenue.. Mr. ~ossi stated h~ would c~eek into thin matter within a few days a~d advise. .. RESOLUTION ~1211.. Councilman Cortesi suhmitted'a resOlution .changing the name .of a portion of Magnolia Avenue and a portion of Fairway Drive. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the city c~unci~.present. .' ~. ~OUTHMOOD CC~MER~ Map of Southwood Commercial Tract was submitted for app=oval. ~ame was referred to the TRACT MAP: Planning Commission.. W~ED ABAT~NT: City Attorney Coleberd b~°ught up .the matter of weed abatement .and suggested that the Works Engineer designate streets and blOCks on which grass is growing. Works Engineer was instruct- ed to prepare thi~ data. OR.AND AVEK~E ~DERPASS tlS,COO Mayor Ferko suggested, that as long as the underpass would n&t be undertaken this year that the $18,000.00 tied up bY the state in the 1/~ Gas Tax Fur~t be released. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that a letter be addressed .to the Division of Highweys requesting release of this money. .ADJO~T: On motion of Councilman Holaton, seconded by Councilman Sani and regularly carried, the meeting was adjourned to May 9th, 19~? at 2:30 P.M.
