CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO AND THE COUNTY OF SAN
MATEO FOR THE FACILITATION AND COORDINATION OF
ANIMAL CONTROL SERVICES
WHEREAS, the County of San Mateo ("County") has administered a facilitation and
coordination of animal control services agreement("Agreement") since 1952; and
WHEREAS,the City of South San Francisco("City"),in conjunction with other cities in the
County ("Participating Cities"), participates in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS,under the current Agreement,the County facilitates the provision of animal care
and control, shelter services and animal licensing services to the Participating Cities; and
WHEREAS,under the current Agreement,the Participating Cities reimburse the County for
facilitating the provision of said services; and
WHEREAS, the current Agreement with the County expires on June 30, 2015; and
WHEREAS, the County and the Participating Cities desire for the County to continue to
facilitate the provision of animal care and control, shelter services and animal licensing services to
the Participating Cities; and
WHEREAS,the County and the Participating Cities have negotiated and agreed to the terms
in the proposed Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the County's contract with the animal control service provider, Peninsula
Humane Society&SPCA("PHS")was negotiated by a team that included representatives from the
Participating Cities; and
WHEREAS,the proposed Agreement ensures that the County will continue to facilitate the
provision of animal care and control, shelter services and animal licensing services to the
Participating Cities until June 30, 2020.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby takes the following actions:
1. Approves the Facilitation and Coordination of Animal Control Services Agreement
with the County of San Mateo; and
2. Authorizes the City Manager to execute the Agreement on behalf of the City.
3. Authorizes the City Manager to take any action consistent with the intent of this
Resolution.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 25th day of March,
2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
