Elder,~Leo Ferko, Adolph sani, Emilio Co~tesi. The meeting ~as called to order by Mayor Ferko at 8s00 p.m. The City Clerk having forwarded copy of the minutes of the meetings of F~bruary 16th and 25th to all.~e~bers of the City Council, Mayor Ferko ·eked if any errors or o~issions mere noted. There being none, the ~inutes were approved as subaitted. Commumic·tio~ was received fr~a H~ Tibbitts Construction Co. advising they would install scoring piles for the price of $~30.00, this being t~e aaount allowed ~ the contract price on account of using so~e used lu~ber. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried th·t Healy. Tibbitts Construction Co. be ·uthorized to install mooring piles for the bo·t pier. POWER-SHOHTAGE s Communication was received from Governor Earl Warren c-llt~g attentio~ to the power shortage and asked that everything p~ssible be done. to curtail the use of pmeer. Ccamunication was received from the Board of Trustees of South San Francisco Unified S~hool District with reference to exchange of property for recreational pttrpo~es. As th~ Council was to me~ with the ~chool. Board~ed~esday, March 3rd, no action was t·ken on this cc~nunication. Coeeamication was received frc~ the Citizens 3chool Pla,p~ng and Building Coem~ttee withi reference to recreation f·cilities in the City. This co~aunicatton was ordered filed. Communication was received from the Southwood Women' s Clp~b pretesting against the gramti~ of a permit for a service station on the corner of. West Urange Avenue and E1 C~tno Highway. Petition signed by 178 residents and/or property owners of the ~ou~hwood Tract protesting against granting of such a permit was also received. Mr. Williams of the Aaerica~ Homes, Inc. was present and addressed the Council. Ne stated he w~uld like to meet with the residents of Southwood and explain the reason for the service station on this site. Ma~' Perks advised there was nothing definite as to the loc·tiom~ of a fire sub-station at this point, and the City Council would be willing to go along with Mr. Williams so that the residents of the Southwood Tract would be satisfied. G. Penna submitted application, together with sketch, for alterations to the existin~ building at ~35 Grand Avenue. Motion was duly made, seconded amd carried that perai~sio~ be granted to make the-requested alterations. ROBI~ REZOI~NG: Coa~u~ication was reCeived froa Mr. and Mrs. Robinson requesting the ~ezo~ing of Grand and Acacia Avenues for apartment houses. This communication was referred to th~ Planning Commission. ! S. P. CO. - DEPT. OF P~BLIC HEALT~ APPLICATIOn: Ce~aunicationwas received fro~ the Southern P·cific Co. with reference to drainage oonditiom ne·r their right-of-way. This matter was referred to. the Rorks Engineer and ~ity Attorney. Co~aunication was received from the Department of Public Health, State of California, advising th·t notice of applic·tion should be published in · local newspaper. They enclosed copy of the form of notice to be p~Blished. Motion was duly~ade, ~econded and carried th·t this notice be published in the South San Francisco Journal. MAJOR CIT! STRE~TS~ Co~mnication was received from the Division of Highways acknowledging resolution ~ub~itted by the City selecting a systom of Major City Streets. This resolution as subaitted was approved by. the Division of Highways. C~maunication was ordered filed, with copy to the Superintemdent of Streets. SANTO CRISTO SOCIET~ BLDG. A petition signed by~ residents of South San Francisco protesting against the construction.of · ~ocial Hall and Club ~r~se on the.West ~ide of Oak Avemue was presente~ Mr. Nystrom, o~e ef the petitiop~rs, was present and ·ddreased the Council ~iving his version in f·vor of the petition. After some discussion he was ~v~ that per,it had been granted for the construction of the Santo Criers Society Building and it was too late to do anything. MONTNLT Rg~RI~ ~ Reports for the ~oath of February were submitted by Building Inspector, Fire Chief, and Department of Public ~ealth & Welfare. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried th·t sa~e be approved as submitted. Claims in the amount of $~,967.73 were presented to~ th~ Finance Committee for approval. FIRE STATION CONTRACT~ Counc~laan Elder introduced .a resolution authorizing the Maker amd City Clerk to execut, contract with Monson Bros. for the construction of a centra~ ~ station in the a~ount of $1~3,~?~ plus the su~ of $1,~3~.75 preaiua on bondS; and the construction a~d 3O2 installation of electric wiring in such central fire station to the Pacific Electrical and Mechanical Co., Inc. for the su~ of $23,955.00 plus the sum of $23~.55 premium ca bonds. This resolution was adopted by the ,,-~n~ous vote of all ~e~bere of the City Council. RESOLUTION NCo 1317 M~NICIPAE Councilman 6ortesi introduced a resolution providing for the holdi~ of a ~eneraI Municipal Election. on'the 13th dayof April, 19~8, ,This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all s~bers of~the .City Council. m SOLUTIO! DIVISION OF Councilemn Sani introduced a resolution that the City enter into an agreement with the Department of Public N~rks of the State of California' for the ~ainte~ance of a certain portion of E1 Casino Heal and Bayshore Highway. This ~esolu~ was adopted by the unanie~us vote of all ~e~bers of the City on rxoN 1319 SHELTEH SHED~ Councilman Holston'introduced a resolution that the city enter into a license a~ree~ent with the Southern Pacific Co. for the s~tntenance mhd use of shelter shed located on the prea~ises of the Southern Pacific Co. at Baden for the sun of $5.00 per year. This resolution was adopted by the unanimous vote'of all members of. the City' Council. HAHTFOI~D FIHE INSURANCE ENDOHSEHENTS ~ Coe~u~cation was received from the Hartford Fire Insurance enclosing two sets of endorse- men%s with reference to .the Burl Burl 8~bdivision. The City Attorney recommended that thase endorsements be turned down. BAY AHEA TRANSPOrTA- TION ~EETINS.' · City Attorney Coleberd advised that he had attended meeting in San Francisco with referer_ce to Bay Area TransportAtion. He reported a resolution had been adopted creating a Bay Area Transit Cost. tree to solve the Bay Area Transportation problems. HA~E! INDUSTRIF~: A representative of Hawley In~astries addressed .the Council stating, he had received a per. it to erect building on South Maple Avenue and that construction would be stopped by the Health Inspector due to the installation of a septic tank and asked what he coeld do. He was advised he would have to provide the proper sewage connection. On motion of councilman Sani, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularl~ carried the meeting was adjourned to March 15, 19~8 at 8:00 p~.
