Absent: Councilman Emilio Cortesi Councilman Boido arrived at.5:15 p.m. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ferko at 5:00 p.m. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the returns of the Special Municipal Election held July 26th be canvassed. The following resolution was introduced by Councilman Sani: RESOLUTION NO. 1~77 RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL E~ECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ON JULY 26-19&9 Whereas, at the special municipal election held in the City of South San Francisco on Tuesday, the 26th day of July, 19A9, pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 290 of the City of South San Francisco, the number of voters voting in each of the precincts in said city hereinafter mentione&~ on the proposition mentioned in said Ordinance No. 290 and the number of votes cast for and against said proposition were as follows: PRECINCT A In favor of said proposition 8& Against said proposition 39 PRECINCT J In favor of said proposition Against said proposition PRECINCT B In favor of said proposition 87 Against said proposition 16 PRECINCT K In favor of said proposition Against said proposition 72 57 PRECINCT C In favor of said proposition 97 Against said proposition 26 PHECINCT L In favor of said proposition Against said proposition &2 PRECINCT D In favor of said proposition 112 Against said proposition ~5 PRECINCT M In favor of said proposition Against said proposition 39 PRECINCT E In favor of said proposition 88 Against said proposition 30 PRECINCT F In favor of said proposition 107 Against said proposition 39 PRECINCT N In favor of said proposition Against said proposition PRECINCT b In favo~ of s~id proposition Against said proposition 100 10 53 13 PRECINCT G In favor of said proposition Against said proposition 37 PRECINCT P In favor of said proposition Against said proposition 52 1 PRECINCT H In favor of said proposition 89 Against said proposition 10 PRECINCT Q In favor of said proposition 86 Against said proposition 8 PRECINCT I In favor of said proposition 5A Against said proposition 12 PRECINCT R In favor of said proposition 7A Against said proposition 27 and ~ereas the total number of votes cast in favor of said proposition was one thousand three hundred ninety-three (1,393~ and the total nu;~ber of votes cast against said proposition was four hundred nine (~09); and ~ereas the total number of votes cast for and in favor of said proposition was more than two-thirds (2/3) of the ~ole number of votes cast in favor of and against said proposition; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco, as follows: That said proposition, to wit, the proposition to incur a bonded indebtedness of One Million six hundred sixty-seven thousand dollars ($1,667,000.00) for the acquisition, construction and completion of the following municipal improvement, to wit: A sewage disposal system, including sewage treatment plant, digester, clarifiers, grit chambers, sludge and lift pump, laboratory and office~building, together with outfall, intercepting, connecting and lateral sewars, pipes, pumping station, manholes, lands, easements, rights-of-way and other works, property or structures necessary or convenient for a complete sewage disposal system of the City of South San Francisco was, and this City Council hereby finds, determines and declares that said proposition was carried and wa~duly accepted by the votes of more than two-thirds (2/3) of all the voters voting thereon at said special municipal election, and that said City of South San Francisco is duly authorized to issue bonds of said City of South San Francisco in said amount and in the manner in said ordinance No. 290 set forth and specified. I hereby certify that the forgoing resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the City Council of the City of South San Francisco this 2nd day of August, 19&9, by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Chas. RESOLUTION NO. 1&78 STORM DRAIN - MARTIN SCHOOL: Councilman Elder introduced a resolution ordering the construction of a storm drain between Sterling Terrace and Martin School near Hillside Boulevard. This resolution was adopted by the following vote: .Ayes, Councilmen Boido, E~der, Ferko, Sani; Noes, Councilmen none; Absent, Councilman Cortesi. RESOLUTION NO. 1&79 BRENTWOOD NO. 2 - BONDS: SP~UC E AVENUE EXTENSION: Councilman Boido introduced a resolution amending Resolution No. 1A75 providing for the issuance of street improvement bonds in Brentwood Eo. 2 Subdivision. Thisresolution was adopted by the unanimous vote of all members of the City ~ouncil present. ~oti6n was duly made, seconded and carried that the Works Engineer be authorized to prepare plans and specifications for the extension of Spruce Avenue. STERLING TERRACE NO. ~ The tentative map of Sterling Terrace No. A was brought up for consideration. As the TENTATIVE MAP: drainage problem in Sterling Terrace area was not taken care of to the satisfaction of the entire council the acceptance of this map was laid ~er.
