The meeting was called to order' b~ Mayor Ferko at &:O0 p.m.
City Attorney Coleberd presented a resolution, which he had prepared, calling for
the sale of sewage disposal bonds. He explained same to the Council and Councilm~_~
Sani introduced this resolution, "Provid~ for the issuance of $1,667,000 principal
amount of 'City of South San Francisco Sewage Disposal Bonds - i9~9'; providing for
the issuance of said bonds in series; prescribing the amount, date and form of Series
A Bonds of said authorized issue and of the coupons to b~attached thereto; and
prescribing the maturities thereof; fixing the maximum rate of interest on said bonds;
authorizing the execution of said bonds and coupons; providing far the levy of a tax
to pay the principal and interest of said authorized issue; and directing notice of
sale of said Series A Bonds to be given", This resolution was adopted by the unanimous
vote of all members of the City Council.
The matter of sewer rental was chiscussed and the Mayor appointed City Attorney Coleberd
and Ctty Manager Larwood as a committee to go into this subject and bring in a
recommendation.
The City Manager stated he had talked with County Engineer Grant regarding the lighting
of the old Bayshore Highway.
A bill was presented by William McIntosh & Son, in the amount of $3,A65.00, covering
part payment of the alterations of the City Hall. Motion was duly made, seconded and
carried that this bill be paid.
The subject of policing at the various school crossings was discussed. CounciLman
Elder stated he was of the opinion School Districts could provide Police Officers for
school crossings and suggested that the City Manager check into same.
'Chief of Police Belloni asked for a stenographer and stated he would like to employ one
starting the first of the month. Motion was duly made, seconded and carried that a
stenographer be hired for the Police Department on a temporary basis at a salary of
$200 per month.
A motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the City Clerk communicate with the
Motor Vehicle Department requesting that an examiner be located in the City Hall one
day a week for the issuing of motor vehicle operator licenses.
Mr. Joseph Bracco, in behalf of the Business MenSs Association, asked for a permit for
amusement concessions for a five day period during the Col,zmbus Bay celebration. After
some discussion motion was duly made, seconded and carried that the Imperial Amusement
Co. be given a permit to operate under the City Ordinance for a period of five days.
Councilman Elder brought up the matter of bands in the Sunday parade. He stated the
Union requested a fee of ~2~0.00 before any bands would be allowed to play in the
parade. He stated the matter would be taken up with the Chamber of Commerce and the
Manufacturers' Assn. for the purpose of raising funds toward the payment of this amount
and wondered if the City Council had any thoughts in this matter. No action was taken
by the Council.
On motion of Councilman Sani, seconded by Councilman Elder and regularly carried the
meeting was adjourned to Monday, October 17th at 8:00 p.m.
