Ahem called the adjourned regular meeting to order at 7:42 p.m. Present: Counc~men Patrick E. Ahern, G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi and Leo J Ryan Absent: Councilman Andrew Rocca Proceeding to the first item of business, City Attorney Noonan explained tl resolution ~hich had been prepared rescinding the previously adopted Resol. ution No. 3015 entitled: "Personnel System Rules and Regulations of the City of South San Francisco". City Attorney Noonan remarked that the resolution originally adopted had a number of corrected pages and that aft. the adoption of this resolution, Council could then adopt a resolution establishing the Personnel Rules and Regulations for the City. After the explanation of the resolution, Councilman Ryan introduced: "A RESOLUTION O THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO RESCINDING PRECEDING RESOLUTIONS ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahem, G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi a Leo J. Ryan. Absent: Councilman Andrew Rocca. City Attorney Noonan then explained the next resolution, after which Coun- cilman Ryan introduced: "PERSONNEL SYSTEM RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE CIT OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi and Leo J. Ryan. Absent: Councilman Andrew Rocca. Claims against the City of South San Francisco were received from the fol- lowing, alleging damages as the result of oil spray being used by the Street Department in resurfacing the street in front of 509 Mayfair Avenue Claim of Associated Pipeline, Inc. dated July 20, 1960, over the signature of Jack M. Jones, in the amount of $20.00 for alleged oil spray on 1959 Ford Galaxi; Claim of Associated Pipeline, Inc. dated July 20, 1960, over the signature of Jack M. Jones, in the amount of $22.50 for alleged oil spray on 1960 Thunderbird. Councilman Rozzi moved, seconded by Councilman Ryan and regularly carried, that the claims be denied and referred to the City's insurance carrier. Council next took up the matter of the inter office memorandum dated July 18, 1960, as received from the City Manager concerning the eligible list for Superintendent of Recreation and Parks and recommending the appoint- ment of Robert Maxey to the position. Councilman Rozzi moved, seconded by Councilman Cortesi and regularly carried, that Robert Maxey be appointed a Superintendent of Recreation and Parks, with a starting salary of $584.00 per month and an anniversary date of July 1st. City Attorney Noonan then explained a resolution which had been prepared concerning the installation of a traffic signal system at Grand and Orange Avenues, after which Councilman Rozzi introduced: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO APPROVING PLANS AND SPECI- FICATIONS, AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND CALLING FOR BIDS ON THE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AT GRAND AVENUE AND ORANGE AVENUE INTERSECTION'. Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, G. Jo Rozzi, Emilio Cortesi and Leo J. Ryano Absent: Councilman Andrew Rocca. City Attorney Noonan then brought to Council's attention the matter of a public hearing to be set for the rezoning of property owned by Leo Lomsky of Horse Ranch, Inco, stating that if Council desired, a public hearing could be set for the meeting of August 8, 1960, at 7:30 p.m., to be ad- journed to that time at their next regular meeting of August 1, 1960. There being no objections, the public hearing was set for August 8, 1960, at 7:30 p.m. Brief discussion followed concerning the matter of the Callan annexation as it affected the South San Francisco Unified School District, in that it appeared that the South San Francisco Unified School District would hay the duty of providing schools. After discussion, City Attorney Noonan read the title of a resolution, the adoption of which would support the Unified School District in placing this responsibility of establishing schools for the area with Daly City. Councilman Ryan then introduced: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO SUP- PORTING THE SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT'S PROPOSAL THAT DALY CITY SCHOOL DISTRICTS, JEFFERSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT, UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT , ASSUME THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SCHOOL FACILITIES IN THE CALLAN PARK AREA NOW BEING ANNEXED TO DALY CITY". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahem, G. J. Rozzi, Emilio Cortes and Leo J. Ryan. Absent: Councilman Andrew Rocca.
