HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1961-11-27ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD MONDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 1961 TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: 5:30 p.m. ~0uncil Chambers, City Hall The meeting was called to order by Mayor Rozzi at 5:33 p.m. P~esent: Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Patrick E. Ahem, Emilio Cortesl, and Andrew Rocca. Absent: Councilman Leo J. Ryan. Mayor Rozzi stated that this meeting had been adjourned from ~he last regular meeting to take up the matter of the Small Craft Harbor. AWARD CONTRACT -- SSF MARINA -- HELD OVER DISCUSSION -- LOAN/ . TIME EXTENSION/ BOIDO COMMENTS -- SSF MARINA COLMA CREEK -- DISCUSSION CITY LIMITS SIGN: AD JOURNMENT: City Attorney Noonan remarked that no contract award should be made until the state had given its approval; further re- ~rking that the Resolution of the Commission sets up the -0an. Mr. Nicoletti of the firm of John Bl~me and Associates dis- cussed with Council the conversation he had earlier with Mr. Habel concerning the matter. FUrther discussion followed concerning what steps or action t~e city should follow at this time. City Attorney Noonan suggested that the city first start proceedin~s in motion on tMe obtaining of the state advance of $100,006.00 and secondly o~taining an extension of time from ~he low bidder. C~uncilman Rocca moved, seconded by .~ouncilman Ahem, that t~e Mayor or City Manager be authorized to write the necessary l~tter requesting the ~lO0,O00.O0 advance from the S~ate. Ro~ll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen G. J. Rozzi, Patrick E. Ahem, Emilio Cortesi and Andrew Rocca. Noes, none. Absent, Councilman Leo J. Ryan. Ciity Attorney Noonan then discussed vhe matter of obtaining ani extension of time from the low bidder. Discussed also was the amount of time needed, after which Mr. Hunt of Healy and Tibbitts Construction Company, present iu the audience, re- worked that an extension of time was agreeable to his firm. Mr'. Boido, present iu the audience, made mention of the addi- tional amount of monies which the State requested the city place on deposit and asked if further such requests would be made of the city. City Manager AielLo replied that the reason for this was because the State was interested in seeing the prbJect completed. Discussion followed, at which time Mr. Boido made mention conceruin~ the adjournment of meetings to a more suitable ti~e so more people could.be present. He also stated that better local newspaper coverage of Council matters should be given than is presently being given. During discussion, mention was made concerning the matter of Colma Creek and flooding conditions, to which Mayor Rozzi re- plied that this is a problem which is created outside the city and that au effort is being made to obtain the help of all contributing cities and not have this city pay for the whole project. Mention was also made by Mr. Boido regarding city signs at the city limits, which he said were criticized by the local Junior Chamber of Commerce at a recent Planning Commission meeting. He stated these signs only needed soue repairs and beautification.
