HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes 1962-12-10.......... ~v~m~TING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO HELD MONDAY, DECEMBER 10, 1962 TIME: PLACE: CALL TO ORDER: ROLL CALL: ORDINANCE NO. 486 TREASURE ISLAND ANNEXATION: AVALON PINES -- TERNULLO CLAIM: 7:30 p.m. Council Chambers, City Hall The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ryan at 7:41'p.m. Present: Absent: Councilmen Leo J. Ryan, Patrick E. Ahem, Emilio Cortesi, and G. J. Rozzi. Councilman Andrew Rocca. City Attorney Noonan explained the ordinance concerning the annexation of Treasure Island Trailer Court, which was now ready for its second reading and adoption if Council so de- sired, stating that a motion could be adopted by Council if they so desired that reading of the ordinance in its entirety be waived and that it be passed and adopted by the reading of title only. Councilman Ahem so moved, seconded by Council- man Rozzi and regularly carried. City Attorney Noonan then remarked that a motion could be adopted by Council that the ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO CALLING A SPECIAL E~]CTION TO BE HELD ON THE 5TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1963, PERTAINING TO THE ANNEXATION OF ~TREASURE ISLAND~ TO THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO" be read for the second time by title and be passed and adopted, the reading in its entirety having been duly waived. Councilman Rozzi so moved, seconded by Councilman Ahern. Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen G. J. Rozzi and Patrick E. Ahern. Councilman Cortesi, before voting, asked concerning the installation of fire protection facili- ties within the trailer court. Discussion followed concern- in~ the matter at which time mention was made that a meetin~ was to be held the following day concernin~ the installation of fire protection facilities. Councilman Cortesi then voted "aye". Councilman Ryan then voted "aye". Noes, none. Ab- sent, Councilman Andrew Rocca. City Attorney Noonan at this time brought up the matter of the damage suffered by the owners of Lot lS near Valverde Drive, requesting authorization or approval to settle the claim of Mtn and Mrs. Ternullo for $250°00. ~He suggested the follow- ins motion: "Move that the City pay the cost of installing, in accordance with City specifications, a valley ~utter bo the rear of 545 and 549 Valverde Drive, said cost not to ~xc~d $250.00, and said expenditure to be made in conjunction with Hartford Insurance Company's settlement of the property damage claims of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Ternullo, 549 Valverde Drive, and as part payment of the consideration for release of claims of Mr. and Mrs. Ternullo". Councilman Rozzi so moved, seconded by Councilman Ahem and regularly carried. SSF MARINA -- TIME EXTENSION: SSF MARINA -- HART & HYNDING CLAIM: RESOLUTION NO. 3634 INTERNATIONAL LIVING~ ORIENTATION -- FOREIGN OFFICIALS: THEODORE KARAS -- CLAIM AGAINST CITY: AD JOURNMENT: City Manager Aiello at this time brought to Council's atten- tion the request of Healy Tibbitts Construction Company for an extension of thirty (30) days to January 15, 1963, on work they are performin~ at the Marina. Councilman Rozzi moved, seconded by Councilman Ahern and reg- ularly carried, that an extension of thirty (30) days to Jan- uary 15, 1963, be ~ranted. Council then took action on the claflm of~Hart & Hyndin~ for $9,431.10 for work completed as of October 31, 1962, o~ the South San Francisco Marina; said claim havin~ received the approval of ali necessary departments. Councilman Ahern moved, seconded by Councilman Rozzi and reg- ularly carried, that the claim as submitted for the South San Franciscb Marina be approved for payment. Mayor Ryan at this time requested the adoption of a resolution welcoming_ the Mexican delegates to the "Sister City". City Attorney Noonan explained the resolution which could be adopted, after which Councilman Rozzi introduced a resolution entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL 0~ THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TC ITHE EXPERIMENT IN INTER- NATIONAL LIVINGl AND WELCOMING THOSE PARTICIPATING IN THE HOME STAY PROGRAM IN SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO". Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Leo J. Ryan, Patrick E. Ahem, Emilio Cortesi, a~d G. J. Rozzi. Noes, none° Absent, Councilman Andrew Rocca. Councilman Cortesi asked concernin~ the status of the Karas claim in Francisco Terrace, to which the City Attorney replied zhat the insurance company had been contacted and they had been requested to follow through on the matter. There bein~ nothin~ further, Councilman Rozzi then moved, seconded by Councilman Ahem and regularly carried, that the meetin~ be adjourned to the 17th of December, I962.
