The meeting was called bo order by Mayor Patrick E. Ahem at 5:37 p-m.
Present:
Absent:
Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern, Frank Bertucelli, Andrew Rocca,
and Guido J. Rozzi.
Councilman Emilio Cortesi.
City Attorney Noonan commented that the second readin~ and adoption
of the ordinance concerning the West Park rezouing was now ready for
Council action. He stated that a motion could be adopted by Council
if they so desired that reading of the ordinance in its entirety be
waived and that it be passed and adopted by the reading of title only.
Councilman Rocca so moved, seconded by Councilman Rozzi and regularly
carried. City Attorney Noonan then remarked that a motion could be
adopted by Council that the ordinance entitled: "AN ORDINANCE ZONING
A PARCEL OF APPROXIMATELY 106.930 ACRES, KNOWN AS NEIGHBORHOOD 18 OF
THE GENERAL PLAN (A PORTION OF THE WESTBOROUGH AREA) DESCRIBED HEREIN,
PLANNED COMMUNI~ DISTRICT OR P.C. DISTRICT; PROVIDING REGULATIONS FOR
SAID DISTRICT; AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 353 ENTITLED 'ZONING 0RDI-
NANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO~ ADOPTED AUGUST 10, 1954" be
read for the second time by title and be passed and adopted, the read-
ing in its entirety having been duly waived. Councilman Bertucelli so
moved, seconded by Councilman Rocca.
Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahem,
Frank Bertucelli, Andrew Rocca, and Guido J. Rozzi. Noes, none.
Absent, Councilman Emilio Cortesi.
City Attorney Noonan ab this time brought bo Council attention the
matter of a boat called the "Suey Sin"-which had been berthed at the
Marina for some time and that uo fees had been paid. He stated that
it was the wish of the Harbor Superintendent to dispose of this boat
through proceedings of the Code provision. He commented that he had
prepared an ordinance which would accomplish this.
After discussion and explanation, he stated that if Council wished a
motion could be adopted that readdng of the ordinance in its entirety
be waived and that it have its first readin~ and introduction by the
reading of title only. Councilman Rozzi so moved, seconded by Coun-
cilman Bertucelli and regularly carried. City Attorney Noonan then
stated that a motion could be adopted that an ordinance entitled:
"AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO ORDERING THE SALE OF
ABANDONED PROPERTY TO WIT: AN INBOARD CABIN MOTOR BOAT KNOWN AS 'SUEY
SIN' #CF34 60AM" be introduced, reading in its entirety having been
duly waived. Councilman Bertucelli so moved, seconded by Councilman
Rozzio
Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmen Patrick E. Ahern,
Frank Berbucelli, Andrew Rocca, and Guido J. Rozzi. Noes, none.
Absent, Councilman Emilio Cortesi.
Mr. Ron Calhoun of the Wesbborough Company, present in the audience,
expressed his thanks to the City Council for the attention given to
the matter of rezoniug of the area known as West Park.
Councilman Bertucelli at this time brought to the attention of the
Council the improvement of his service station and called to their
attention the fact that the crown of Miller Avenue is much higher
than the driveways built into his station which causes cars enberin~
on Miller Avenue to scrape. He stated'~that both the Engineering and
Building Departments had approved the plans and as a result feared he
would be held responsible for damages to customers' cars. Discussion
followed, at which time it was mentioned the plans were okeyed by En-
gineering and Building because it was assumed this was bo replace the
old existin~ installation and that the plans did not show elevation.
Mention was made that Hugo Stoppoloni of the Street Department called
to the attention of the contractor the matter of the lowness when the
concrete was bein~ poured since he had some time previously performed
some corrective work and was somewhat familiar with it. Mention was
also made that the Engineers for St%ndard Oil Company should have
checked the installation carefully and that responsibility also rested
with them. DiscussiOn followed concerning the matter of corrective
work costs and methods and that corrective steps should be taken at
the earliest possible date.
There being no objections from any:member of the Council, Mayor Ahem
requested the City Manager, alon~ with the Director of Public Works,
to negotiate a solution at the earliest possible date.
There being nothing further, Councilman Rozzi moved, seconded by Coun-
cilman Rocca and regularly carried, that the meeting be adjourned to
Monday, August 17, ~964, at 8:00 p.m.
