The meeting was called to order by Mayor Ahern ~t 7s35 p.m.

WESTBOROUGH SQUARE
SHOPPING CENTER:
The first item for Council's consideration was nhe Public Hearing on the Notice of
Hearing - Appeal fro~Use Permit Order UP-39 of the South San Francisco Planning
Commission - Westborough Square Shopping Center, Westborough Boulevard and Junipero
Serra Freeway.
City Attorney Noonan briefly explained to CouncL1 the reasons that he recommended
the Public Hearing on the matter since it affecned an agreement to be executed
by the developers of the property and inasmuch ts the mentioned agreement had not
as yet been executed, suggested that the Public Hearing be declared open and continued
to the next regular meeting of the City Council
Mayor Ahern then declared the Public Hearing opened and continued it to August 7, 1967
at 8sO0 p.m.

Council then took up the matter of the Inter-Office Memorandum dated July 25, 1967
from the Superintendent of Recreation and Parks reco~mending the present contract
with Royston, Hanamoto, Mayes and Beck be rescinded and award of a new contract with
the same terms to Mr. David Mayes, A.S.L.A.
Brief discussion followed concerning the dissol~tion of partnership of the firm,
that inasmuch as Mr. Mayes, a momber of the former firm, had been working on the
matter, it was the firm's recoemaendation that he continue on the project.
Further discussion followed concerning the handling of the project by Mr.'Mayes after
which City Attorney Noonan suggest that Council, if they so desired, could adopt the
following motion that, upon the consent of Roys=on, Hanamoto, Mayes and Beck having
been filed with the City, the authorization to ~ontract and any agreement for their
services to design the tennis court complex at Orange Memorial Park be cancelled and
rescinded and the City Manager be authorized to execute an agreement with Mr. David
Mayes for said services.
Councilman Rocca so moved, seconded by Councilm&n Cortesi and regularly carried.
RESOLUTION NO. 4717 Council next took up the matter of the Inter-Office Memorandum dated July 24, 1967
APPROVING PLANS AND SPECS from the Superintendent of Recreation and Parks concerning the Call for Rebids for
AUTHORIZING WORK AND CALLING Tennis Court Improvement at Orange Memorial Park.

Brief discussion followed at which time Superinnendent of Recreation and Parks Maxey
explained the reasons why no bids had been receflved but'since the first call for bids,
some firms had expressed interest and it was the feeling that if bids were readvertised,
the new opening could be scheduled for August 4, 1967 with a compilation to be sub-
mitted for the meeting of August 21, 1967.
Further discussion followed after which Councilnan Rozzi introduced the resolution
entttleds "A RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AUTHORIZING THE WORK AND
CALLING BIDS FOR TENNIS COURT INPROVRA~NTS, ORA~IGR N~.MORIAL PARK."
Roll call vote was as follows: Ayes, Councilmem Patrick E. Ahern, Frank J. Bertucelli,
Emilio Cortesi, Andrew Rocca and Guido J. Rozzi. Noes, none. Absent, none.
ADJOURNMENTs
Councilman Rocca moved, seconded by Councilman Rozzi and regularly carried, that the
meeting be adjourned to the next regular meetin~ to be held August 7, 1967.
