CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
AWARD THE CONTRACT TO BLOCKA CONSTRUCTION,
INC., OF FREMONT, CALIFORNIA FOR THE
INSTALLATION OF TURBO BLOWER NO. 2 AT THE
WATER QUALITY CONTROL PLANT IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED $344,800.00.
WHEREAS, on May 8, 2015, City of South San Francisco ("City") staff issued a Request
for Proposals ("RFP") for the Turbo Blower#2 at WQCP Project("Project"); and
WHEREAS, on June 4, 2015, staff received a proposal from one (1) firm; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing the submitted bid proposal, Blocka Construction, Inc.
("Blocka"), was the only responsive bidder; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends that the City Council to authorize the City Manager
to award the contract to Blocka of Fremont, California in an amount not to exceed $344,800.00;
and
WHEREAS, funding for the Project is included in the City of South San Francisco's
2014-2015 Capital Improvement Program ("CIP").
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby approves the award of the contract for the installation of
Turbo Blower#2 at WQCP with Blocka Construction, Inc., of Fremont, California, in an amount
not to exceed $344,800.00 conditioned on Blocka's timely execution of the Project contract and
submission of all require documents, including but not limited to, certificates of insurance and
endorsements, in accordance with the Project documents.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager
to award the contract on behalf of the City upon timely submission by Blocka's signed contract
and all other documents, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by
the City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 8th day of
July 2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
