CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF$49,400
IN GRANT FUNDING FROM THE CALIFORNIA STATE
LIBRARY TO SUPPORT THE READING CIRCLES PROJECT AT
THE COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER AND AMENDING
THE LIBRARY DEPARTMENT'S 2015-2016 OPERATING
BUDGET.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") Library Department established the
Community Learning Center to assist adults and their families in reaching educational goals; and
WHEREAS, the Library Department has been awarded federal Library Services and
Technology Act funding, administered by the California State Library, in the amount of$49,400 to
support a reading skill-building program,Reading Circles,for all 85 children attending after school
homework programs at the Community Learning Center ; and
WHEREAS,staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of$49,400
to support Community Learning Center programming; and
WHEREAS, receipt of these grant funds does not commit the City to commit to ongoing
funding; and
WHEREAS,the foregoing grant funds will be used to amend the Library Department's 2015-
2016 Operating Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $49,400 in grant funding from the California State
Library and amends the Library Department's 2015-2016 Operating Budget in order to reflect an
increase of$49,400.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 8th day of July 2015
by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
