CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE $2,300 IN
DONATIONS TO SUPPORT THE LIBRARY'S SUMMER
LEARNING CHALLENGE AND AMENDING THE LIBRARY
DEPARTMENT'S 2015-2016 OPERATING BUDGET.
WHEREAS,the annual Summer Learning Challenge program was established to encourage
children and teens to read during the school break; and
WHEREAS,the First National Bank of Northern California made a donation to the City in
the amount of$500 to support the Summer Learning Challenge; and
WHEREAS, South San Francisco Host Lions Challenge made a donation to the City in
the amount of$50 to support the Summer Learning Challenge; and
WHEREAS,the Kiwanis Challenge of South San Francisco made a donation to the City in
the amount of$500 to support the Summer Learning Challenge; and
WHEREAS,the South San Francisco Scavenger Company made a donation to the City in the
amount of$500 to support the Summer Reading Challenge; and
WHEREAS,the South San Francisco Friends of the Library made a donation to the City in
the amount of$750 to support the Summer Reading Challenge; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of the grant funding in the amount of$500
from First National Bank of Northern California, $50 from South San Francisco Host Lions Club,
$250 from the Kiwanis Club of South San Francisco,$500 from the South San Francisco Scavenger
Company, and $750 from the South San Francisco Friends of the Library to fund the Summer
Learning Challenge; and
WHEREAS, the foregoing donations funds will be used to amend this year's operating
budget of the Library Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $500 from First National Bank of Northern
California, $50 from South San Francisco Host Lions Club, $250 from the Kiwanis Club of South
San Francisco, $500 from the South San Francisco Scavenger Company, and$750 from the South
San Francisco Friends of the Library to fund the Summer Learning Challenge and amends the
Library Department's 2015-2016 Operating Budget in order to reflect an increase of$2,300.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 26th day of August,
2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
