CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF$500,000
IN MEASURE A FUNDING FROM THE COUNTY OF SAN
MATEO TO SUPPORT THE GRAND AVENUE LIBRARY
RENOVATION PROJECT, COMMITTING A LOCAL MATCH
FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF$500,000,AND AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN GRANT-RELATED
AGREEMENTS WITH THE COUNTY TO SECURE THIS
FUNDING.
WHEREAS,the City of South San Francisco("City")Library Department has been awarded
$500,000 in Measure A funds by the County of San Mateo to support a Grand Avenue Library
renovation project; and
WHEREAS, Measure A is a half-cent sales tax approved by San Mateo County voters in
November 2012 to support a broad range of County services and functions; and
WHEREAS,a local match of$1 for every$1 in Measure A funds,or$500,000,is required to
receive the funding; and
WHEREAS,initial estimates indicate the total project cost to be approximately$1,704,000;
and
WHEREAS, Measure A funding in the amount of$400,000 was accepted and$300,000 in
local funding budgeted to support this project in 2014; and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of this additional Measure A funding and commitment of an
additional $500,000 in local funding will fully fund the renovation project; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends the acceptance of Measure A funding in the amount of
$500,000 from the County of San Mateo and the formal commitment of$500,000 in local funding.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby accepts $500,000 in Measure A funds by the County of San
Mateo to support a Grand Avenue Library remodel project and formally commits to $500,000 in
local funding.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 26th day of August,
2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
