CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF$75,000
IN MEASURE A GRANT FUNDING FROM SAN MATEO
COUNTY TO CONDUCT A FEASABILITY STUDY TO FIND AN
ALTERNATIVE PERMANENT HOUSING SITE TO REPLACE
THE INDUSTRIAL HOTEL AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH SAN
MATEO COUNTY.
WHEREAS, in December 2014, the County of San Mateo (County) released a request for
Letters of Intent(LOI) for FY 15-16 and FY 16-17 Measure A funding; and
WHEREAS,the City of South San Francisco(City)submitted a LOI for a grant to conduct a
feasibility study to find an alternative permanent housing site for the approximately forty (40)
County Behavioral Health&Recovery Services(BHRS)clients that currently reside at the Industrial
Hotel,a single-room occupancy(SRO)hotel located at 505 Cypress Ave in South San Francisco;and
WHEREAS, the County has awarded the City a$75,000 grant to undertake this feasibility
study in FY 15-16; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco that the City Council hereby:
1. Accepts$75,000 in Measure A grant funding from San Mateo County to conduct a feasibility
study to find an alternative permanent housing site to replace the Industrial Hotel.
2. Authorizes the City Manager to execute a grant agreement with San Mateo County,subject to
approval as to form by the City Attorney.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced and adopted by the
City Council of the City of South San Francisco at a regular meeting held on the 26th day of August,
2015 by the following vote:
AYES: Councilmembers Karyl Matsumoto, Pradeep Gupta, and Liza Normandy
Vice Mayor Mark N. Addiego and Mayor Richard A. Garbarino
