CITY COUNCIL, CITY OF SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF 10
CARDIAC MONITOR/DEFIBRILLATORS IN THE AMOUNT
OF $356,022.48, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ENTER INTO A PURCHASE AGREEMENT WITH ZOLL
MEDICAL CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE,
TRAINING, AND SHIPPING OF 10 ZOLL X-SERIES
CARDIAC MONITOR/DEFIBRILLATORS AND
NECESSARY ACCESSORIES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED $356,022.48.
WHEREAS, the City of South San Francisco ("City") staff recommends that the City
Council adopt a resolution authorizing the Fire Department to purchase cardiac
monitors/defibrillators; and
WHEREAS, the cardiac monitors/defibrillators provide the paramedics in South San
Francisco with information on the patients status and are necessary to provide quality patient
care to the sick and injured, and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Impact Fund allows for 25.6 percent of the total cost of
Fire Department equipment to be paid for through the fund for benefit of the residents and
employees of South San Francisco; and
WHEREAS, staff issued a request for proposals (RFP) and received responses from three
vendors; and
WHEREAS, the proposals were evaluated based on the specifications set forth in the
RFP, including the following criteria: cardiac monitor/defibrillator functionality, information
transferability, and product weight; and
WHEREAS, of the responses received, Zoll Medical Corporation was the cardiac
monitor/defibrillator that was responsive to the required specifications; and
WHEREAS, a total of$380,000 has been approved as the full replacement cost of the
cardiac monitors/defibrillators in Fiscal Year 2015-2016, and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City use the approved funding amount from the
Equipment Replacement Fund for this purchase with 25.6 percent being funded through the
Safety Impact Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San
Francisco hereby approves of the purchase of 10 Zoll X-Series cardiac monitors/defibrillators in
an amount not to exceed $356,022.48.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council hereby authorizes the City
Manager to execute an agreement with Zoll Medical Corporation for the purchase, training and
shipping of 10 Zoll X-Series cardiac monitors/defibrillators in an amount not to exceed
$356,022.48, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.

September, 2015 by the following vote:
